crazy to think at the time Darrell Porter was picked over George Brett. Maybe they just wanted a catcher for the visual.

It's weird that the reprint comics made for Pizza Hut just seemed to be for random issues, they could have just gone with reprints of the first issues.

I thought someone had earlier posted the covers of those giveaways--but when I went back, I couldn't find any post with the covers I'd seen a few days ago (I use Safari and Chrome browsers if that makes a difference). tartanphantom Did you remove the images from your linked post? IIRC there were 2 Wonder Woman reprint edition covers, 2 Batman covers, and some others. Or am I thinking of a different post? ETA: In case anyone's interested seeing which comics were part of this promotion, there's info at this link superfriends.fandom.com/wiki/Pizza_HutThe reprinted comics were as follows: Superman 97 and 113; Batman 122 and 123; Wonder Woman 60 and 62.

I linked the images directly from GCD. I clicked on my own link in the above post and it didn't show the images either. Then, I went back to the original post on page 668 of this thread, and they reappeared. Next, I came back to my posted link on this page, and they magically reappeared when I clicked the link.
Weird. It could be that GCD is having intermittent image hosting issues.
And yes, you have the Reprint issues correctly identified in your post.

Oh okay--glad I wasn't imagining things (and that I had indeed seen cover images earlier) I kept thinking, well. maybe I saw the covers in another thread, for some odd reason?? From what I understand GCD doesn't allow direct linking (hotlinking) to its images/cover images, which is probably why they vanished from your post.

They seem to be showing up again. I've never had a problem with hotlinking from GCD, but then again, I know how to strip the "redirect" gobbledygook from the image URL and make it work. If you do a simple "direct copy" of the image URL from their website, it will usually fail.

If you do a simple "direct copy" of the image URL from their website, it will usually fail. Yeah, GCD prohibits hotlinking because of the additional cists it incurs to their operating costs to host the site. If you hot link it, the images will often appear in your cache and be visible to you, but not to anyone else looking at the post. Not sure if that's what's happening here, but I generally avoid hotlinking to them as a courtesy because I use their site so much and don't want to incur additional expenses for them when they provide such a great service essentially for free to me unless I choose to donate. -M

To those outside the UK: do any of you import 2000 AD or the Judge Dredd Megazine? As the former is a weekly title, I presume any pull list in, say, the US would give you 4-6 issues at a time. Just curious.

Just curious. I don't actually get it (I'm happy to get trades) but Diamond lists it as a package for the month, so no single issues. it is also prohibitively expensive.

What’s the difference between an omnibus and an absolute collection ? techincally, an omnibus would be a collection of different titles (so like when they do the Star Wars ones and include a bunch of minis) but, like 'trade paperback' it seems in comicdom the term has been co-opted to mean 'really large collected edition'. 'Absolute Edition' as far as can tell is strictly marketing (like 'Epic').. though they do seem to often be over-sized, I don't think there's any real rhyme or reason.

What’s the difference between an omnibus and an absolute collection ? Primarily the dimensions and page count. Absolute Editions are oversized, usually about magazine sized in dimension i.e. 9 1/2 by 12, and usually come in a slipcase. Only DC does the Absolute editions. Omnibus are usually standard hardcover/tpb size, but that can vary from publisher to publisher, some publishers like Dark Horse do softcover omnibus editions. Omnibus have larger page counts and usually collect a larger number of issues. example Absolute Wonder Woman by Azzarello and Chiang(which I own as Ollie's had copies) comes in a slipcase, is that 9 1/2 by 12 size and clocks in at 480 pages collecting new52 Wonder Woman #0, 1-18. MSRP $125 The omnibus of Azzarelo Chiang WW is 8 1/2 by 11 inches, no slipcase, clocks in at 928 pages and and collects 0, 1-35, 23.1 and a story form Secret Origins (new52 series) 6. MSRP $150. So more content, slightly smaller size for the omnibus. -M Be aware though, what each publisher means by omnibus varies. Marvel and DC are pretty similar in their use of the format. Image's Deluxe Edition hardcovers are similar in size to DC Absolute Editions, but don't use the Absolute branding as DC does, but they also tend to have fewer issues per volume (example staying with Cliff Chiang) Paper Girls has 3 Deluxed Edition HC, about the size of an absolute, but with no slipcase and each collecting only 10 issues or about 2 regular trades worth of issues.

I’m used to the term “omnibus” , but absolute is something that is not used as much.
