I’m used to the term “omnibus” , but absolute is something that is not used as much. The Absolute Format is something that is, thus far, unique to DC. Again others, like Image, do something similar, but "Absolute" is a branding thing only DC does. Omnibus is a more generic term borrowed from general book publishing, and the first time I encountered it (not sure if it originated there) was via the Science Fiction Book Club as the term they used for volumes collecting multiple books in a series in a single book volume. First time I saw a comic publisher use it was Dark Horse, but these were the softcover trades collecting large chunks of a series (they did it for the Marvel Star Wars series, Grendel, Nexus, etc.). I'm not sure if DC or Marvel did it first and having it refer to those massive doorstops of a book they make. -M

I’m gonna be “that” guy, at the end of the Hex Series, did he go back to his time period ? Jonah Hex returning to the 19th Century wasn't actually shown in the Hex series, but the final issue ends with Jonah discovering his own taxidermied corpse in a fun fair as a macarbe exhibition. He therefore realises that he will escape the future and get back to his own time eventually. Jonah ending his days as a stuffed carnival side-show exhibit was something that was first established in DC Special Series #16, the Jonah Hex Spectacular, from 1978.

Have Longshot and Scarlet Witch ever battled each other? Very curious whether their powers would cancel out.

Don't think so. I have seen Longshot and Black Cat interact (but not battle) and Domino and Scarlet Witch team up (against a Celestial device that causes natural disasters by manipulating probability, so again no direct battle).

After finishing Alias, it is worth continuing on with The Pulse?

Did Superman 500 ( the white bag return of Superman) kill the comic market ? I heard that many comic shops went out of business after overordering this comic.

Too many comic shops started in the late 80s and 90s with speculation as their strategy, it was doomed for failure. Superman 500 could have been a tipping point, but it was bound to happen.

Do Dark Horse and Image have any evergreen collections?

Do Dark Horse and Image have any evergreen collections? I can't say dispositively, but I don't recall ever seeing the early trades of Hellboy going out of print. For Image...Saga. The Walking Dead (at least the early trades).

Ah, interesting.
Incidentally, I don’t think there are any evergreen collections of any UK stories, unless a Judge Dredd arc has been continually in print. Be nice to think at least one UK collection had been in print indefinitely.

Be nice to think at least one UK collection had been in print indefinitely. Judge Dredd has 'case files' that are the equivalent of epic volumes. Seems like while they are not evergreen, they cycle through them... I got vol 20 on a whim a couple months back and 21 and 22 have since been reprinted.
