Confessor and @supercat , You are both correct. These are very expensive and one needs to feel they are getting what they want. The coloring will turn away some and not bother others. YMMV. Taschen might have that in the description, but they definitely promoted them as facsimiles to the original comics. There is tweaking and correcting and then there is recoloring. My sense is V 2 goes to far to recoloring.I decided against V 2, but if Taschen has it on one of their 1/2 price sales, I could see succumbing to it's allure. That's the nuance for me, and I always knew they used some select digital editing in the first volume, but my understanding was it was not meant to be "additive" (intentional recoloring however slight) but rather to use every tool available to dial in the original look as closely as possible. I also fully agree YMMV, I can see a lot of people still enjoying the second volume based on that reference picture. Honestly, if my Masterworks volumes looked that good, I would be very happy indeed. I think they set the bar so high with that first volume though, for me it's just disappointing. That's a lot of cost, and depending on which issues you selected from the timeframe of that second volume, you could even buy one or two original nice lower grade reading copies instead, just another point to maybe consider. I still "want it all"...volume 1 level authenticity, and in a regular scale volume! You can't please everyone haha If someone gifted me a copy of volume 2, I'd probably get over my gripes quickly and appreciate it for what it is, a still really nice looking volume.

When was the first time the Avengers or any non-X characters encountered the Sentines?

I think Avengers #103. Though one of historians will know for sure.

Do we know what the S on Jughead's sweater stand for? I saw stories where Betty & Veronica speculated about it, but never saw an official explanation. Even the A.I.s have no clue!

AFAIK there was never an official explanation during the classic years of the comics. I think it was just one of those things there wasn't supposed to be an answer for. No idea if it was ever explained in more modern comics

Doesn’t it stand for Squirrel Hill Independent Tigers? That’s what Bob Montana’s widow claimed.

Doesn’t it stand for Squirrel Hill Independent Tigers? That’s what Bob Montana’s widow claimed. I have read it came from Skunk Hill, a real location, which Montana turned into Squirrel Hill. As a child, he played for the Haverhill Tigers. It then got put together. Jughead was supposedly baced on a friend of Montana's, Skinny Linehan, which probably factors into the S, as well.

The Riverdale TV series made it into the gang symbol for the Southside Serpents, (which probably wasn't really the original intention)

I think they left it unresolved...but obviously, the 'S' stands for 'something'. Therefore, 'something' is the answer.
