I liked Tuska's Ghost Rider issues... I don't envy Tuska following Ploog on Ghost Rider, but his work is solid on the title.Going out on a limb, eh Farrar? Very controversial take. I await the firestorm of criticism.

But Remember , Tuska will always be famous for this important scene- I really need to read Luke Cage one day. Still can't figure out if it's Black empowerment, Black stereotyping, or just straight up Blacksploitation.

Is there an origin comic to Luke Cage anywhere? I only have a handful of his books and none with Iron Fist.

I never liked any of Tuskas work when collecting in the 70s and 80s, didn't like the big teeth and thought the poses were odd, however looking at his work now in comparison with the likes of Heck and Robbins I've developed an appreciation for their styles. As with Kirby, Ditko, and Romita among many others, their art shows a variety of faces, bodies, and poses, and there can be real life in the pictures. I also think now that he is quite dynamic, just look at a lot of those Iron Man shots.

Ta to both Hal and MRP.
Might see about getting both actually...although I prefer him without the yellow threads....

Just Read Sub-Mariner #31, and noticed that pages 13 and 14 were split between story and ads (top of the page story, bottom ads). It was my first time seeing this, but I haven't read a ton of Marvel from the 70's. Was this a common thing? I didn't really like it I must say...

Maybe a year or less. It's really annoying. I believe DC did the same thing for a while as well, around the same time; I think DC did it for longer.

DC recently revived the practice in their books a month or two ago with a Twix ad covering the bottom half of 2 consecutive pages. Not only was it intrusive, it featured Nick Lachey.... -M

I picked up one of the new DC titles the other month, saw this, and was immediately turned off. Come on -- the ad revenue isn't really so lucrative as to justify this, is it?

We'll, though I don't think it's ever been the case for comics, advertising has usually been the main revenue source for periodicals, and every once in a while it looks like comics try to up their game. It's also possible they DC was approached by the advertiser.

I think we'd all be happier if comic book advertising kept up with where it was in the past. Advertising revenue helped keep books at a penny or less a page for decades.
