Boston is in just a few weeks now, and it's getting bigger than ever. They've recently announced it will be three days this year, rather than two. They're also putting together a pretty good lineup of celebrities this year. I personally don't care much about celebrities, but even I am tempted by Eve Myles. Also set to appear is her Torchwood co-star John Barrowman as well as Jewel Staite from Firefly and Jason Momoa from Game of Thrones and Conan. They've also got Sean Astin and folks from Buffy and Arrow among others.
Of course, I'll be concentrating on comic book creators. I am thinking about going two days this year, instead of just one. Not sure yet. I'm also not sure which days I will be going. Friday is tempting, as it will likely have less crowds.
But here's my plan at the moment for creator signatures:
Jimmy Palmiotti - This is the third year in a row Palmiotti has been listed as a guest in Boston and he didn't show up either of the previous two years. If he ever does actually make an appearance, I will be having him sign some issues of Jonah Hex. Likely #1, as well as the first appearance of Tallulah Black and the issue I already have signed by Paul Gulacy.
Sergio Aragones - He's also been listed multiple years and backed out, so I really have my fingers crossed that this year he makes it. Hopefully the presence of Stan Sakai will be incentive. Going to bring Groo #1 and Bat Lash #1 I think. Maybe Starslayer #5.
Carlos Pacheco - Absolutely going to have him sign Avengers Forever #9, I love love love the Kang cover and story in this issue. I'm not sure what else I am going to bring, though. EDIT: I will also be bringing Avengers Forever #4, because...
Jeff Smith - EDIT: I bought a copy of Bone #49 for him to sign, since having him sign my Bone one volume collection is impractical. I will also be bringing his variant cover version of Avengers Forever #4.
Ron Garney - Captain America #445. I also have a Captain America #1 (volume... who can keep track any more) signed by Mark Waid, so I will be getting Garney's signature on that as well.
Stan Sakai - EDIT: Groo #1 for sure! Also, Usagi Yojimbo Summer Special #1 and the Fantagraphics Usagi Yojimbo #1.
Mark Waid - Need to figure this one out. I have met Mark before and had him sign Avengers #400 and Captain America vol. 2 #1 (or volume... something...). EDIT: Durrr, if I am bringing Cap #445 for Ron Garney to sign, it only makes sense to get Waid's signature on it as well.
Tim Bradstreet - EDIT: I'll be bringing Unknown Soldier #1 from the Vertigo mini by Garth Ennis; Bradstreet did the cover
Adam Kubert - EDIT: did some research and I'll be bringing Warlord #95 and #100 as well as Sgt. Rock #394.
Gail Simone - EDIT: I bought Wonder Woman #25 and #600 for her to sign.
Amanda Connor - EDIT: she worked on Wonder Woman #600, so there we go!
Mark Texeira - EDIT: Conan #229 features a Tex cover, while he also did the interior art for World's Finest #300.
Greg Capullo - EDIT: I will be bringing Quasar #31, where he crosses over into the New Universe, as well as #32 for the Galactic Storm crossover.
Ramon Perez - I will be bringing Life with Archie #36 for him to sign, as well as Archie #656. Plus maybe my Archie/Captain America jam sketch.
Geof Isherwood - new addition since last time I looked at the list. Avengers #370 will be on my list, as will Conan the Barbarian #197. Maybe #196 and #204 as well, not sure.
Dan Parent - obviously, something from Archie. I was hoping the Lena Dunham issues would be out by then, but it doesn't look like it. We'll see, I'll figure out something.
Hoping more old school legends get signed up before the show hits in 5 months. But this is already a lot of damn signatures!
Others of note I am currently not planning to get sigs from: Neal Adams, Simon Bisley, Eric Powell, Tom Raney, Katie Cook, Paul Ryan (though I might just for tradition's sake if I can find something of his I haven't already had him sign over the years), Alex Saviuk, Scott Snyder, Ben Templesmith, Mike McKone and Scottie Young
