Ronda Rousey - Captain Marvel in Movie?Part 1 of 2TIME Magazine LinkCNN LinkShe could pull it off and some web-sites that I've visited today that she has some approval rating of 55 to 65 percent of her doing a Captain Marvel Movie. I kinda voted against her due to her inexperience as an actress.

Ronda Rousey - Captain Marvel in Movie?Part 2 of 2Looking at her picture here and Captain Marvel pictures - From Marvel Comics you can see why 55 to 65 percent of the people think that she could pull it off; I see some resemblance here; but I would guess that there is been some discussion about this of her getting that role. I don't know that's true or not. It's a wait and see proposition here.

Eh, as far as I know she has little to no acting experience. Marvel so far has casts experienced actors for their roles (only exception I can think off is Chris Hemsworth and even he had nearly a decade of acting below his belt before being cast as Thor, albeit mostly in minor roles.)

She was in the expendables and did quite well and was very likable. She has a "beefy" upper physique which sometimes is a little distracting to me personally. Not intended as an insult. Just at certain times , from certain angles something just appears "awkward" / out of the ordinary. She's certainly more muscular and for a powered character like capt marvel it's not nec. Ultimately they could do a lot worse (as they often do). Plus I have no interest or affection for the character so I really don't care. I'd be ok if they went with her. What about the blonde costar from the series Chuck?

Yeah, hiring Rousey seems like it would be going in the opposite direction of the formula that has worked for Marvel. Not only does Marvel go for experienced actors over athlete/gimmick type casting, but they hire actors with critical acclaim. It's funny that two leads of franchise (Hemsworth and Evans) are the exceptions to that high level of critical acclaim, but the supporting casts had several people with strong critical pedigrees (Portman, Skarsgard, Hopkins, Mackie, etc.). Casting Rousey seems like going the Stephen Seagal route. I don't really have a strong opinion of the persona an actress needs to capture for Carol, because I've barely read anything from the past few years with her.

I'd say that Evans was already a rising star before Captain America, but he was definitely not a big name yet. As for Carol, the main names I've seen people suggesting are Katee Sackhoff, Yvonne Strahovski and Emily Blunt. The last one probably too big a name now, but you never know.

Evans had made a bunch of movies (including FF), but he had much that had a critical acclaim.

She was fine in Expendables. Not sure she's ready to head a film yet though. Still, based on the 1 thing I've seen her in, casting her wouldn't seem like a huge mistake or anything.

Ronda Rousey doesn't match the Captain Marvel movie character (for me), she is better as She-Hulk with her masculine physique its perfect. Charlize Theron or Margot Robbie is a good choice..

With Rousey getting utterly dominated in her last two fights...I kinda doubt that this is even still on the table.
A little over a year ago, she was looked upon as the most badass female on the planet.
Now?
Well...not so much.

Ya'll are aware that Marvel announced Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel last July, right?

Ya'll are aware that Marvel announced Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel last July, right? With Marvel putting out 14-15 movies over the last 8 years...it's hard to even keep up. But I know she was being talked up with regards to a Roadhouse remake about a year ago...and I doubt that happens either at this stage.

Casting based on physical appearance never ceases to amuse me. The old JLA Mailroom letter pages used to be filled with casting suggestions, with names like Nick Nolte as Aquaman (never quite figured that out, other than blond hair) and Cheryl Ladd as Black Canary (Canary's a brunette in a wig, folks), plus whoever was on prime time, at that point. I still remember people wanting John Cena as Captain America. His few acting gigs, up to that point, were terrible and, apart from muscles, I didn't see where he would appeal.
I'd rather have a good actor who makes you forget the comic book appearance (Hugh Jackman) rather than a look alike stiff Nothing wrong with an unknown; remember a young actor named Christopher Reeve? he had done a couple of soap opera episodes and some theater, when he was cast as the perfect Superman. Everybody poo-pooed Michael Keaton and he turned out to be great. Sometimes, you have to look beyond the obvious. Watching Star Trek and his few other roles, I would have never have believed that Walter Koenig could play a great villain, until I saw him as Bester, on Babylon 5.
