Good evening and thank you for adding me to the forum. I have found my way here in order to recapture my youth! 🤓 I will be interested in reading through the various threads and catching up on the trends, as it's 40+ years since I last bought these comics... and about 22 years ago since I last looked at one... About to move house and finding a long lost box of comics in the attic. Sadly the box then went missing by the time we were unpacking at the new property. Recent thoughts and memories and fruitless online searches have bought me here this evening... Being an avid reader of Battle, Commando, etc. Comics... I have a memory of a particular story based in North Africa and featured a beleaguered squadron of Matilda tanks on an escarpment and digging in to hold off the Africa korps... I have visions of injured tanks being towed into dug out positions and "buried" with only their turrets above ground and just a few mobile tanks... Does anyone have any similar memories that could reveal the title and lead me to this volume? I would love to track it down, just for the sheer joy of finding out if it matches my recollections! Thank you in anticipation David

Thank you in anticipation David Hey, glad to have you here. I used to love Commando and Battle Picture Weekly when I was a kid. I never bought them religiously, but whenever I had any spare pocket money that hadn't been spent on other comics or music I would pick up the odd issue of those two publications. I also had a couple of Battle annuals given to me as a kid. As for the story you're searching for, it doesn't ring any bells. But the first thing I would do is to look at the Grand Comics Database's cover gallery for each title, zero in on an approximate date range, and then see if any of the covers look familiar to you. You can click through onto each issue to see details of its contents, but unfortunately the GCD's coverage of UK comics can be a little sketchy at times, as they are predominantly focused on American comics. Here are links to the Commando and Battle listings... www.comics.org/series/10609/covers/www.comics.org/series/18698/covers/You also might want to try looking on the Albion British Comics Database: britishcomics.fandom.com/wiki/Albion_British_Comics_Database_Wiki

Hello everyone.
I've read comics all my life, from the early seventies. I've observed the forum for over a decade, I think, and look forward to talking about comics.

Hi everyone
I've been a big comics fan since my teenage years, mostly Silver/Bronze Age Marvel/DC stuff. Looking forward to getting to know you guys and discussing comics.

Hey boyos! And lass-o's!
Saw this place linked in a poster's sig on CBR, and came over to join. I'm 42, long-time comic reader. My tastes fall largely 80-mid 2000s, though I try to give current books a try here and there. I miss conventional forums, so I thought this would be a good place for me.

It could have been my sig; I have the link in my CBR sig. But I haven't posted there in months. Was it an old post? Welcome to CCF!

Good afternoon all. I've gone by Mister Mets on various message boards. I'm a big Spider-Man fan, although I like all sorts of comics. It's dopey, but I realize that I haven't been reading that many comic books recently, and a big part of it is wanting to be able to talk about this with people. Twitter, CBR and other forums will have conversations on the latest issues of a big title, but I'm also looking to talk about other stuff. I'm not around here too often, but I definitely remember some good Spider-Man conversations with you many, many years ago. My username may just have been Chris Nowlin then.

Hello all!
My name is Malcolm, but I'm typically known online as Mammal.
Although I'm not new to the world of comic collecting, I am new to the world of the CCF. I actually am finding the forum through it's associated podcast, which I've been enjoying a lot. I've been falling in an out of comics for years, and sort of thought my love for them had dried up. That's when I started getting into less mainstream American comics, and more genres and classic comics. Just recently started going through my stack of The New Teen Titans and buying West Coast Avengers out of the dollar bin has rekindled my love of super heroes. Also have rediscovered a love of Archie after rereading Mark Waid's run, and now going back to the classics. I'm also a huge fan of Franco-Belgian comics like Asterix, The Incal, and so on.
Since this is a forum of collectors I'll say my main things I collect are anything TMNT (basically the only modern books I buy these days), The New Teen Titans, and Howard The Duck. Looking to getting more into collecting classic West Coast Avengers, golden age Katy Keene, and other various Archie and random old superhero books.
Hope this will be as fun and nice place as it seems, and I'm excited to get to know everyone!

Very excited to have you here, as well. Always a pleasure to have members of the community who appreciate work outside of the superhero genre as much as within. Welcome!

Yeah I have... opinions about hwat Marvel has been up to the last few years, and I like modern DC, but it's hard to keep up. They seem to always be in an event. Asterix was a childhood love of mine, because I was obviously an odd child lol
