My name is pmpknface and I'm an comic-a-holic. My avatar has changed from CBR, but that's about it - for now. I've been posting on those boards since the late 90's at least. I used to frequent the classic area and I was a regular on the Pipeline board as I used to do a few things with Augie and really enjoyed the conversation there. I'm mainly a Marvel guy, collecting just about everything from the start of the SA until today. I've still got a huge pull list at my LCS and DCBS. However I'm also into GA books, mainly LB Cole covers of which I've got over 200. You'll see a few new ones up here shortly... I love the Vargas avatar. My wife and I love vintage pinup stuff. The decor in our "vintage" themed guest room includes some 50s furniture, some framed classic comics, and an entire framed Vargas 1940-something calendar, all 12 ladies. Fantastic stuff.

Good to "see" you again, fred2! Cei-U! I summon the welcome wagon! Very cool to be welcomed by the great Cei-u! Your encyclopedic knowledge of comic lore is one of the reasons why I would frequent the boards. Now if only I could find a way to restore my avatar (It was a sympathetic looking Captain Cold).

Thank you sir. You are doing a great thing here. Kind of like the George Washington of classic comics!

Fred2 is proud to defect and join the rebellion. So angry and devastated by what happened at cbr, I cannot articulate my pain. I rarely posted, but depended on the Classics forum to learn about comics from the old days. Thank you for reviving this and splitting off. This whole thing has a Fahrenheit 452(?) feel to it. I hope that by my single small registration can help in any way. Welcome good sir! Enjoy the festivities. Thanks. Will there be beer?

Hi All. I posted a few times on CRB Classics Board as the_skip (I think), but was little more than a lurker. Returning after a week or so away from a keyboard, I was dismayed to find that the board had disappeared – I’m glad to have found so many familiar names here.
After getting on for a 40-year hiatus, my interest in comics was rekindled three or four years ago, and I’ve since been re-acquiring works long since disposed of and discovering (not least courtesy of the Classics Board) some of what I’d missed – activities that my family (especially my kids) find mildly perplexing, if mostly harmless. I don’t much care for the Eagles, but have occasionally attempted to stare meaningfully into space on hearing ‘Desperado’.
I’d like to echo the thanks, in this thread and others, to Shaxper. Making this happen must have involved a lot of work – and probably still does – but it’s work that’s enormously appreciated. Well done, that guy, and those that have helped him.

Hello,
I'm heystacy, which is also my handle on CBR. I've done far more lurking than posting in the last few years. My gen X slacking is showing.
I used to read a lot of comics per month, as I read them as a youngster. Nowadays, it's when I can afford them.

Yep - I'm aware! I helped the guy editing the book by providing him with a butt-load of scans of my books and hooking him up with other collectors that had even more scans and better copies of stuff than I have. Can't wait for it! Yeah - I'm a Vargas fan too, although the avatar is an Elvgren. Yesterday one of his classic originals went for over $200k!!! I also have this James Jean print (bought directly from him, signed too!) which is an image used in the Watchmen flick and is more Vargas then Elvgren:

One, that is fantastic! Two, how embarrassing - you're absolutely right. On closer inspection, that is obviously not a Vargas. I should know better.

My handle is the same as the CBR. Based on my favourite classic rock band's original name (look it up!)
Real name is Eric, I live in Ontario, Canada. Been collecting comics (1960-1990 stuff) for the past 12-13 years. I am younger but love the classic stuff. Big Spidey fan, love Batman and Captain Marvel (Kree version). Also like to read anything recommended as great which has caused me to be buying and reading a lot lately. Looking forward to continue the chat and sharing of comics here!
