Oh, that's cool -- I certainly respect that. Rest assured that "I'm intrigued" doesn't necessarily translate into "OMG If you don't tell me every little detail of what went down I'm just gonna DIIIIEEEEEE."

Hi, my name is Ricky and I'm a Pisces I love computers and hot tamales
Well, not really. I am neither a Ricky nor a believer in pseudoscience, though I do like computers and hot/spicy food. I've been here a while but only (accidentally) just found this thread, it hasn't really taken me this long to think of anything to say.
I'm another refugee from the CBR boards where I was also called Simon Garth, and mostly lurked on the Classics board (mostly for the community as I don't read many classics, being old enough but not yet too senile to remember a lot of them from the first time around), but also occasionally popped up on other boards just long enough to be dog-piled for not blindly adoring whatever was being discussed there.
My name was originally sparked by an old thread on CBR when I first started reading it (2004 or 2005, I think) which was titled "are you such a Marvel Zombie that you wouldn't even read DC", or something like that. Fired up to post my words of wisdom, I (eventually) registered as "Simon Garth", who was published by Marvel and is a.... well, you get the picture. Ironically, by the time my registration finally succeeded, the thread has died, which was kind of appropriate.
I'm another old codger in my early 50s, still occasionally reading a few classics when they come to light, but mostly reading current Marvels and a few others

You should give those Tales of the Zombie stories a try, some excellent stuff in there courtesy of Steve Gerber and artist Pablo Marcos.

Not only that, but they're available in Essential format (or were ... I've noticed the horror volumes in particular often have a tendency to go out of print & up in price), & since they were in B&W to begin with the usual hand-wringing about lack of color doesn't apply.

No, but shrinking down the magazine sized artwork is probably just as much a crime against artistry.

Pablo Marcos was the highlight and what I remember most (and one shocking aspect even for a non code comic) about the series. And as Dan said the Essential makes it easy and affordable. I don't regret my $13 spent. Edit: And one with Alfredo Alcala that's amazing looking.

Welcome Simon. What Marvels are you reading now ? Quite a lot, probably more than I've read in years - pretty much all the Avengers franchise, most of the X-Men (excluding X-Force and would have dropped X-Factor if it wasn't going to be cancelled anyway), the Spider-Man books (though probably going to drop these after Spider-verse, as it hasn't really held me since Spider-Ock went away), Fantastic Four (though that's been dire since Hickman left), She-Hulk, Ms Marvel, Ghost Rider, GotG, Star-Lord, Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Axis (also dire), Ms Marvel, Captain Marvel, umm... probably some others that I can't remember offhand. Not sure I'd say I enjoying a huge number of them - the Bendis X-books have been good, the Hickman A-books seem to be taking an age to get anywhere.

I'm used to be Doctor Fate here for a month, and after a month went by and 500 posts after that just became a Senior Member of this Forum and all. I felt that my Username isn't right and please forgive me for changing it because I kind of lost my identity from the old forum and all. So having said that, I felt injustice going by my old CCF name of Doctor Fate and decided to go back to my old username of JLA SilverAgeFan. I just felt out of place being Doctor Fate and wanted my old identity back here and I just wanted to make an announcement that I just did. So, I just changed my avatar today and I feel much, much better having it back because I've just love the Satellite Era of the Justice League of America. The Satellite Era consists of:Aquaman - King of the Seven Seas Atom - The Tiny Titan Batman - The Caped Crusader Black Canary - The Blonde Bombshell Elongated Man - The Stretchable Sleuth Green Arrow - The Ace Archer Green Lantern - The Emerald Gladiator Firestorm - The Nuclear Man Flash - The Scarlet Speedster Hawkgirl - The Winged Wonder Hawkman - Fights with Weapons from the Past Jonn Jonzz - Manhunter from Mars Red Tornado - Tornado Champion Superman - The Man of Steel Wonder Woman - The Amazing Amazon Zatanna - Mistress of Magic So, there you have it - from now on I'm JLA SilverAgeFan
