Thanks for the welcomes.
Can't seem to post on the main board but maybe its because I'm new here. I hope there are one or two brits that can help as it seems I'm finding more and more of Lester Bidston's work and I'd like to buy as much of it as I can.
Reason for the interest by the way is that he was my great grandfather.

Can't seem to post on the main board but maybe its because I'm new here. You won't be able to start a new thread yet - I think you have to have a minimum of 5 posts to do that (maybe it's only 3). It's an anti-spam measure. But you should be able to post in any existing thread. I hope there are one or two brits that can help as it seems I'm finding more and more of Lester Bidston's work and I'd like to buy as much of it as I can. Reason for the interest by the way is that he was my great grandfather. That's very cool. I hope some of the other Brits here can help you with some info.

Ah I see. I`m a member of a couple of toy and model steam engine forums and they seem to have a similar thing where you can`t post for a while.
The set up of this forum is a bit different than I`m used to as well. This is the steam one (with photo) I`m on...
modelsteam.myfreeforum.org/about89486.html
I`ve also found a UK based comic forum so they may give me some help when I`m able to post on there.

Although there are 4 or 5 regularly posting Brits here (including myself), this forum is predominantly populated by American posters. We do have other posters from other parts of the world too, of course, but it's mostly Americans here and as such, American comics tend to be discussed more. That's also the area that has the most abundant "knowledge base", in terms of our poster's collective area of expertise too. Very cool about the model steam engines, by the way.

I`ve also found a UK based comic forum so they may give me some help when I`m able to post on there. Sounds like ComicsUK. Yes, they will definitely have the answer. It's scary how much they know, considering how small the UK market is compared to the US one. Name any comic in the past seventy years and there's a good chance three of them have a copy, and one of them can probably tell you what the letterer had for breakfast that day. Now to fill in that solicitor's form...

I'm always fascinated by model steam engines and I know a couple of gentlemen back home shared their interests as well. I would be very much interested in hearing your side of the story and I would encourage you to start up a thread showcasing toy and model steam engines. And, welcome to CCF!

Want to introduce myself to the board. Been catching up on the place reading reviews and such for last month and finally at a place and time in work schedule where i can post in the mornings and at lunch. I began my addiction to comics as a youngster in the summer of 1971 when my grandmother sent me down to the local convenience store to get bread and milk and said i could spend the left over change however i wanted for myself. Had change enough to buy 2 comic books and a candy bar. Bought myself a Dell Underdog comic and Thor# 193. Hooked ever since into the four color world of wonder. Primarily grew up a Marvel Zombie of the 70's with occasional DC foraging when thrilling covers could still hook you into purchases. Favorite heroes: The Flash, Captain Mar-Vell, Deathlok the Destroyer and Werewolf by Night. Fave teams: Avengers always #1 (until Bendis ruined their concept), Justice League, Fantastic Four, the Claremont/Cockrum/Byrne X-Men and Wolfman/Perez Teen Titans. Now i am an avid collector (for reading purposes, care less about future $$ sales values) of whatever i like which runs the gamut from Super-heroes, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Crime and Archie comics. If its fun and takes me away from the throes of reality then i am there as working as an Administrative Assistant in a hospital is draining mentally, physically and emotinally. Looking forward to interacting with you all in the days, months and possible years to come. So as Stan would say: Excelsior and hello!

Thanks for the greetings. The CCF is a place where i will enjoy myself. Nice to have found a site which discusses and doesn't rant and flame and troll but embraces all the fun and geekitude (is that a thing?) of comic books. Life is filled with work and responsibility and comic books, movies, food and such are the pleasures one should enjoy without there being arguments over every little thing. We all have different tastes and likes and sometimes sharing those will bring another to find it to their liking. Growing up i never bought an Archie comic as my hard earned and saved nickels and dimes were held for Marvel and DC. As i grew up and found i didn't need or want EVERY Marvel or DC and began trading and holding onto those comics i truly savored i found the simple joys of Archie comics. So why is it that so many younger readers these days are outright "haters" over artists and writers and series. It takes skills most of us will never have or use to create a comic book and while i do have writers and artists i may not prefer, i can still appreciate that they made something out of nothing. Whether i enjoy or not, at least i will look it over and proceed from there. That is what i like about the CCF, the members and staff here truly enjoy comics and it shows in the atmosphere here. It smells just like old comic books filled to the brim and overflowing in paper grocery bags in the back of my bedroom closet

Welcome, hope to have many happy discussions with all of our new members.

Welcome, brutalis. From the way you talk about comics and what you like about our cosy little corner of the internet here, I think you'll fit right in.
