Hello All I have been following the forums for a couple of weeks now and decided to make an account!
I have not been in Comics long my first purchase was in 2009 during the build up to the Watchmen movie I walked into a local comic shop and purchased Watchmen and Dark Knight Returns. I read and enjoyed both of them but like most college somethings I was pretty into video games at the time and didn't consider jumping into the hobby.
Jump a few years ahead and during the height of the New 52 my brother finally got me into monthly comics by showing me Lemire's run on Animal Man. I quickly tracked down the back issues and set up my first pull list with a good mix of DC Marvel and Image.
I specifically got into older comics with the Marvel Unlimited app, which exposed me to all the Silver Age goodness that I fell in love with. Since then I mostly only Pull DC comics, Image I wait for trades and Marvel I just don't read much modern stuff as it seems too bogged down by events.
I am currently reading along with Nowhere Man's excellent Marvel Read through, As well as working my way through Starman, which I recently ran into a full run minus three issues at a used book store!

On CBR, my handle was the same and I posted on Comics Should Be Good, in the comments field, under my given name, Jeff. I'm an Ancient Geek, from the Bronze Age; cut my teeth on Super Goof, The Three Mousketeers, Fox and the Crow, and Space Family Robinson, before moving onto superheroes and any other comic I could get my hands on. I'ma devotee of the young turks of the Bronze Age: Howard Chaykin, mike Grell, Walt Simonson, Len Wein, Marv Wolfman, Elliot S! Maggin, Cary Bates, Jose Luis Garcia Lopez (PBHN), Doug Moench, Rich Buckler, Paul Gulacy, Steve Engelhart, Marshal Rogers, Mike Golden, Bill Mantlo, Steve Gerber, P Craig Russell, and so on and so on. I'm also a devotee of the classic war comics from DC, Sgt Fury and The Nam at Marvel, The Lonely War of Willy Schultz at Charlton, Don Lomax's Vietnam Journal, and Sam Glanzman's A Sailor's Story and USS Stephens stories. Archie Goodwin is like a god to me and Manhunter is the greatest American adventure comic, ever!

I still post over there; but, when you can't be bothered to read much of what comes out from the Big 2 these days, it's hard to find threads that you want to take part in. I mean, you can only ridicule Justin Beiber so much before it becomes hollow.

I'm 55 years old and in an industry I can't wait to retire from, all things IT. For the last 35yrs I've loved all forms of the visual arts and for better or worse have been associated with seagulls. Long story. So glad to be here!

Hello everyone, I have been involved in comics for 45 years now. A former retailer for 25 years, involved with the AACC, overstreet advisor, 1st alternate on Sotheby's grading commitee, columnist for Comic BOOK MARKETPLACE, the main word here being former. Now I am just trying to rekindle my love of comics with other people who enjoy talking and sharing all things comics. Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Hi everyone, I've been collecting comics since the Crisis on Infinite Earths, and 99% of all the comics I read nowadays were published between 1935 and 1985. I'm a fan of Golden Age and Silver Age comics. One of my current obsessions is reading through everything published by Quality Comics from the 1930s to the 1950s. I run a website called The Five Earths Project ( www.5earths.info/), which features fan fiction based on classic comics by DC, Fawcett, Quality, Charlton, and a few others. Though I've only written a small fraction of all the stories there, i've personally edited and proofread every one, and enjoy reading what others have written. Amazingly, after nearly 17 years of existence, we've managed to piece together a fairly cohesive shared continuity. I've always loved the shared universes of DC and Marvel, and like seeing how each story fits into the framework of world-building. I know continuity is a dirty word in some circles, but I'm hoping to find some likeminded readers here who love the continuity of the older books. I registered at this bulletin board a while back after reading Chris Tolworthy's excellent The Fantastic Four: A Great American Novel, which I followed while reading (for the first time ever) Fantastic Four #1-333 over the last two years. It became a mild obsession of mine. Other obsessions I've had over the years is Wold Newtonry, or the obsessive piecing together of a larger shared universe of characters from many types of media. Any other fans of Philip Jose Farmer here? I find that there's usually some overlap between comics fans, sci-fi fans, and Wold Newton scholars, but we're a small group.

I only wish I'd discovered it before I wrote my senior thesis in college. That would have been fun.

He's a pretty frequent contributor to this forum too.

Most of the comics I'm reading at the moment are Marvels from 1982.
