Welcome, tony5. If comics themselves aren't your thing, we have a whole board devoted to comics-related TV shows and films.

Welcome, Shannon... I think you'll like this place. It's a wealth of knowledge and and full of friendly, interesting characters. I only discovered this place about 18 months ago, but it instantly felt like "home." Hopefully you'll be able to join in one of our frequent casual Zoom sessions soon-- it's a quick way to put faces with some of the names around here.
For the others that don't know, Shannon has his own little Youtube channel that he updates regularly... nothing fancy, just an avid collector talking about, what else?... classic comics! From what I've seen, he's got a great cache of classic books.

Hello. I have been looking for a place to discuss older comic books and found this site via search engine. I like to read other people's thoughts on comics, but I am not a very outgoing person so usually I just lurk even when I wish I could take part. But, I would like to try to share my own thoughts on comics for a change and this place seems like a nice way to do that.
But, the problem is that my own taste in comics may not be what most people call "good" haha, and this is one reason I have been reluctant to share my thoughts over the years. I recognize my own peculiar taste, and of course there are some comics I really enjoy that many other people do as well, but strangely some of the comics that have stuck with me the most are ones that are perhaps forgettable to others (or at least I rarely see other people mention these particular comic stories online and when they do no one seems that enthused with them). So, I can't guarantee that my own comic thoughts will be useful to others except as a way to know what to avoid reading if I highly recommend something haha.
My username comes from the comic Groo the Wanderer (Arfetto is a brother of Groo's dog Rufferto).
Thank you for reading.

Have no worries over having different or odd tastes in comics. I take hits all the time for my War and Western collections. Some here like Romance, many of us like Archie and Barks/Rosa Donald Duck. We have big green rabbit who is rabid over Marvel Star Wars and we tolerate the Image/Liefeld talk from a certain trombone playing host of our live Zoom chats. So be certain that you are in good company and dive in and express yourself. We are good folks here and love the classic comic books of yore and even new of today.

Excellent, thank you for your response! I would love to read more Carl Barks comics eventually.

Ha ha...yeah, I was gonna say, I like comics featuring a six-foot green space-bunny who is pretty much universally hated among Star Wars comic fandom. This place positively welcomes off the beaten path comic tastes, arfetto. You'll be in good company here.
