Recently started watching MST3K again for the first time in years and am really impressed with how funny it is and how well it holds up. I know there are quite a few fans here so I thought we could use a place to discuss all things MST3K, RiffTRax, Cinematic Titanic, etc. I would love to read about peoples' thoughts, recommendations and general watching experiences. So far this summer I've watched - Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and became mixed up Zombies
- The Girl in Gold Boots
- Eegah
- I Accuse My Parents
- Beginning of the End
- The Atomic Brain
- The Violent Years
- Racket Girls
- Red Zone Cuba

I really need to watch more of the riff Trax stuff. I saw their Plan 9 From Outer space on theatres a few years back, and it was far better than you'd expect for such an obvious target.
MST3K wise, my two favorite for repeated viewings are Pod People and A Touch of Satan.

Rifftrax does good movies to though...I never got that. The fun of MST3K was that the movies sucked.

I've watched a ton of Rifftrax shorts lately. Great stuff. The shorter time period and general weirdness of shorts work well with riffing.

Watched the "Night of the Blood Beast" episode of MST3K tonight. The monster in it is so laughably bad. The short at the beginning was really funny as well.

Caught the "Hercules and the Captive Women" episode of MST3K tonight. I think I had seen parts of this film before on Elvira's Movie Macabre but this made it so much more tolerable. Pretty funny episode also it was kind of interesting to see Gypsy riff the movie a bit.

MST3K was one of my favorite shows. I can't remember a time when I didn't find that show funny. The consistency was always impressive. I have so many favorite episodes, but I'd say Puma Man, The Final Sacrifice ("Rowsdower") and Mitchell are way up there for me. I've only see bits of Riff Tracks on YouTube. I need to start watching that.

Last night I watched "The Rebel Set" and tonight "The Touch of Satan". It was interesting watching a Joel episode and then a Mike episode back-to-back. Both terrible films I thought the Joel episode was much funnier even the opening short was hilarious.

Both terrible films I thought the Joel episode was much funnier even the opening short was hilarious. "Touch of Satan" is actually one of my absolute favorite episodes. For years, I thought I liked Joel better, but the truth is that I think Mike's commentary is much funnier overall. And while he isn't as distinct as Joel as a character, Joel always had this sleepy moroseness to him that sort of dragged me down.

Caught the "Manos the Hands of Fate" episode tonight and thought it was really funny. The film itself wow is it bad definitely deserves its reputation as one of the worst films ever made. There's actually a brief appearance by Mike who plays Torgo in the pizza skit at the end.

Watched both the "Secret Agent Super Dragon" and "Hamlet" episodes this weekend which were pretty funny but both hard movies to sit through. Hamlet in particular was very bleak and depressing to watch. Had it not been for the fact that I am familiar with the source material I'm not sure I would have been able to actually follow the movie. For years, I thought I liked Joel better, but the truth is that I think Mike's commentary is much funnier overall. And while he isn't as distinct as Joel as a character, Joel always had this sleepy moroseness to him that sort of dragged me down. I've noticed that Joel seems to have more of a dry wit and unfortunately some times his delivery just doesn't work. Most of the time he makes me laugh quite a bit though. Considering that Mike was the head writer during that time anyway I'd have to give it to him if I had to pick which was funnier overall.

Recently watched the "Rifftrax: Star Wars Holiday Special" and have to say this is probably the only way to get through it. For modern audiences it's just such an oddity that aside from appearances of the main cast and characters it only vaguely resembles the original film. It almost comes off as some sort of bizarre Star Wars themed fever dream with musical numbers and appearances from Bea Arthur and Art Carney of all people. Not something I would recommend to Star Wars fans but might be something interesting to sit through for MST3K fans.

The Final Sacrifice is still the greatest MST3K riff in history if you ask me.
First time I saw it my face hurt afterwards from laughing so much
Best of Final Sacrifice
