I've got one for you. While Marvel was the first to have a Ghost Rider (western version) Magazine Enterprises had the first Ghost Rider ("western version"), ca. 1950. Dick Ayers had something to do with it, as I recall. I knew I was missing a fact or two. Thanks for filling it in for me.

Dick Ayers had something to do with it, as I recall. The original inspiration came from the hit western song 'Ghost Riders In The Sky" from Vaughn Monroe in 1949.Many other great versions too. My favorite version is the Outlaws

The First Limited Series Comic Prematurely Cancelled
I'm relying on my faulty memory for this one but in the early days of the direct market, limited series started appearing from marvel,DC and the new independant publishers.Archie Comics decided to get back into the superhero business at the same time with The Mighty Crusaders and they released what was supposed to be a 6 issue run of The Comet. It folded after just 2 issues. I always remembered that as being a first. Other titles were cancelled in the past but not something with a definite announced ending before

First African-American sidekick... THE FALCON What about Ebony from the Spirit or Steamboat from Capt. Marvel? (Though Falcon might be the first costumed sidekick.) There is not one thing about that Hell Rider cover that doesnt scream awesome. Concept, maybe. Execution's a little lacking. The First Limited Series Comic Prematurely Cancelled

I heard from a creator at a convention that most of the books were ready to go, but the Archie front office decided they were too dark for something they wanted their name on.

Archie's Comet mini-series would have come out about 1983/84-shortly after Eclipse Comics,Continuity Comics and other direct market publishers began appearing OK--I'm thinking of a somewhat later incarnation that was going to revive the whole line. Never got published, and a couple years later the characters appeared in the more kid-friendly !MPACT books from DC.

Over on the crossover thread I advanced the notion that comic books may have been the first medium to cross over two starring female characters created for independent features-- i.e, Mary Marvel and Bulletgirl of BULLETMAN.

First time explicit drug use was mentioned and shown and caused a major re-vamping of the Comics Code Authority.
