Eleven months ago, Dr. Poison was feeling that the Hall of Justice community had run its course and was ready to close shop. I reached out to him, believing that by merging our two communities, we could give the HOJ new life. In a sense, we have done just that. In less than a year, we've had some incredible discussion that would not have happened if the Hall had been allowed to come to an end, and we've also gained some unforgettable members who have enriched our community a thousand-fold.
A year later, some changes are coming.
Dr. Poison has informed me that, in spite of our best efforts, he has lost interest in the discussion board format and no longer feels it's the ideal structure for the Hall of Justice. Instead, he will be putting his full energies into The Hall of Justice Facebook Page which contains much of the same content you've come to expect from the HOJ, but in a different format. He does not plan to maintain as active a presence here or on any other discussion forum from here on out.
This leaves us with two significant matters to consider:
1. Losing Dr. Poison's regular presence here is a tremendous blow. His passion, enthusiasm, and kindness will be missed. I want to be clear that this is a parting on good terms -- Dr. P is just tired of this format; it isn't for him anymore.
2. The Hall of Justice is, and always has been, Dr. Poison's baby. It will officially continue via the HOJ facebook page, but that doesn't mean the end of the community that has been establishing itself here for the past eleven months. While we have no right to continue the HOJ name nor structure without Dr. Poison leading it, all that rich conversation will simply be moved into new sections devoted to general current comics, collectibles, media, and fanfiction. We will lose the DC only emphasis, but gain a larger scope and a simpler community structure in the process. Avengers' Mansion and Beyond the Big Two will be merged into these new sections as well. Mine and the moderators' goal through this transition will be to maintain the feel of the Hall of Justice in these newly merged sections, even if we no longer have a right to the brand itself. The discussions will continue.
In the next few days, I will be reaching out privately to the HOJ staff to ask if they would like to take on larger roles in helping to shape our community. I am still committed to the idea of fully merging our two communities together; perhaps losing an old but cherished name will only further help us grow as one.
To those of you who came from the Hall of Justice in joining this site, I want you to know that we value you and want to keep you happy and comfortable here. This is still your home. If you have specific concerns of any kind, please feel free to private message me.
For the next week or so, we'll hold off on making changes of any kind to the community. We want to give folks time to adjust, prepare, and offer feedback as well. After that, we'll see a restructuring that will both simplify site navigation and ensure that the scope of the Hall of Justice remains relevant and more intrinsically tied to the scope of the overall community.
