Most of his work is published by Viz in the USA. I read it in french, but that's besides the point His most famous work are the 20th Century Boys and Monster series. I've recently aquired his Pluto series but have yet to open it. Urasawa is a master of serialazing, often using mysterious characters and withwholding info for the longest time, building up expectations for years. In 2004, he won the Angoulême International Comics Festival Prize for a Series (for 20th Century Boys), which is the equivalent of the Cannes Golden Palm in Cinema. He also won the Eisner Award for Best U.S. Edition of International Material for 20th Century Boys in 2011 and for Pluto in 2013. His most recent stuff I haven't gotten yet : Master Keaton and the very cool looking Billy Bat. ANyone here into him? Anyone has read those later two?

Naoki Urasawa's Monster is one of my favorite anime series. From what I've been told it's a very faithful adaptation of the manga but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet.

The anime is alrihgt for what I saw of it, faithfull indeed, but it felt a little bland, lifeless compared to the manga. I only saw the first 2 episodes though. 20th Century Boy feels a bit like Akira done by Urasawa BTW, loads of stuff happening and lots of characters.

20th Century Boys is one of my very favorite things - I read the whole however-many-volumes + 2 epilogue volumes in a week.
Pluto (which is an updated Astro Boy) was even better received, but it didn't work quite as well for me.
I have Monster out of the library as of right now, but haven't read it yet.
