I might see the movie in a cinema, but I'll probably wait until it's on DVD. Apart from the Marvel SW comics that came out at the same time as the original trilogy, I never cared for the extended universe, the toys or the video games. (Heck, I even thought Return of the Jedi was pretty average).
Overexploitation and overexposure did to Star Wars what they did to Wolverine: turn my original fascination to a very casual interest.
I'll still admit that the shot of a downed star destroyer half buried in the sand brought a smile to my face.

I'm pretty excited to see the new movie, but that's it. I tried the first two issues of Marvel's new SW comic, but dropped it, feeling that it was pretty substandard and not wholly in line with the events of the original trilogy, continuity-wise. I haven't had any interest in buying or collecting SW toys since about 1985, when I turned 13. Darth Vader and Lando are pretty good IMO, both better than the 'main' title. Though take that with a grain of salt - as I said I'm a big fan of the old Expanded Universe which makes me biased. I'm just not sure which way I'm biased - either it makes me predisposed to like more Star Wars stories or enrages me that Heir to the Empire, X-Wing: Rogue Squadron, etc, etc. are no longer canon. Maybe it evens out.  |

Im really enjoying the new comics, much more so than the original Marvel series, which admittedly I read religiously as a teen.
Super excited for the new movies, probably because Lucas isnt involved, and love the look of the upcoming Battlefront(?) game. Who wouldnt want to be able to play in the battle of Hoth etc ?

I started reading the Journey to Force Awakens novel Aftermath this morning. Only a few chapters into the story and Wedge Antilles is the primary character right now, but it's been enjoyable so far. I got it out of the library, and I requested a bunch of the YA stuff that also is part of the Journey to the Force Awakens line... don't think I would plunk down the cash for it, but will check it out if the library has it. -M PS Was at Wal Mart today and they got a restock on the Wal Mart exclusive Funko Pop Vinyl of the Stormtrooper and Dewback that had sold out on Force Friday, so picked one of those up and it is now on display in the refitted office/studio.   -M |

Super interested and excited for the new movie, no interest in the rest, though I wouldn't mind picking up a cool tee shirt or action figures (for old times sake) but I certainly won't. I haven't gotten into the comics and have zero interest in video games. So, I guess my ratings are something like 7, 1, 8, 6, based on the thread title.
