In a bad week for Australian (and world) cricket, the day after veteran wicket keeper Rod Marsh died, leg spinner Shane Warne has died of a heart attack while attending a health retreat in Thailand. He was 52.
The first person to to take 700 first class wickets, Warne is widely considered as one of the greatest bowlers in cricket history, and in 2000 he was selected by a panel of cricket experts as one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Century, the only specialist bowler selected in the quintet and the only one still playing at the time. He was as infamous for his antics off the field as he was renowned for his feats on it, and once dated Liz Hurley.

RIP to British Actress Lynda Baron, probably best known as Nurse Gladys Emmanuel, the object of the unrequited affection of Ronnie Barker, in the sitcom Open All Hours. She appeared in 3 Doctor Who serials (The Gunfighters, Enlightenment and Closing Time, in 2011), multiple tv guest spots, the soaps Coronation Street and EastEnders, plus the movies Hot Millions, Mrs Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter, Hands of the Ripper, Carry On Columbus and Yentl. I used to watch Open All Hours on A&E, when I was in college and they used to show British sitcoms on the weekends, much like a cable version of PBS. Ronnie Barker was shop owner Arkwright, who lusts after Nurse Gladys, who lives across the street. It is implied they may have once been engaged, but it ended. David Jason (Touch of Frost, Only Fools and Horses, and Danger Mouse) played Granville, Arkwright's much put-upon nephew.

Also, I had no idea that he was a great jazz trombonist.

Also, I had no idea that he was a great jazz trombonist. I recalled something about that, after seeing a mention of that in one obit. I'm not sure if he played in the same band as George Segal; but, I recall seeing a piece, back in the 80s, about some of the actor/jazz musicians in Hollywood. I can't recall if that was a factor in having his character own a music store, in Mork & Mindy or not.

I just read that Emilio Delgado, the actor who played the fix-it shop owner Luis on Sesame Street for 45 years, has passed away at the age of 81. He had been suffering from the blood cancer multiple myeloma for several years. That's another piece of my childhood gone. (And I'm actually tearing up as a I write this.) F*ck you cancer! R.I.P. Luis. Give my regards to Mr. Hooper when you see him. Sunny Day Sweepin' the clouds away On my way to where the air is sweet Can you tell me how to get? How to get to Sesame Street

How to get to Sesame StreetThis one hit my wife particularly hard. She’s turning 50 this year, so she grew up with Luis on Sesame Street, but to make matters worse, her mom died of multiple myeloma back in 2008, just two months before our younger daughter was born.

R. I. P. to the Ernest Tubb Record Shop in Nashville. Opened by Tubb in 1947, it has been an iconic piece of country music history ever since.
