This one hit my wife particularly hard. She’s turning 50 this year, so she grew up with Luis on Sesame Street, but to make matters worse, her mom died of multiple myeloma back in 2008, just two months before our younger daughter was born. I'm 52 and my mother died of bowel cancer, so I know where she is coming from. My sympathies to her.

I just read that Emilio Delgado, the actor who played the fix-it shop owner Luis on Sesame Street for 45 years, has passed away at the age of 81. He had been suffering from the blood cancer multiple myeloma for several years. That's another piece of my childhood gone. (And I'm actually tearing up as a I write this.) F*ck you cancer! R.I.P. Luis. Give my regards to Mr. Hooper when you see him. Sunny Day Sweepin' the clouds away On my way to where the air is sweet Can you tell me how to get? How to get to Sesame StreetWell this sucks. My "kids" (31, 35, 37) will be hurting tonight. That was such a great show, and Luis was a key part of its greatness.

It was a great show. I think I and my peers were actually a little older than the target audience when we first got it on our local station in the 70s but we all watched it and used to talk about it all the time. So many great characters and bits.

I was part of the original generation, as it debuted about the time I was aware of what was on the tv screen. I remember the original Gordon, when Luis debuted, when Snuffaluffagus first appeared, The Count...
They also had some cartoon stuff from Filmation, as there was at least one Superman segment (S is for Superman) and at least two with Batman and Robin (one involving crossing a street and another about Penguin and some hoods hiding in a cabin with dirty windows, so they don't see the Caped Crusaders roll up on their hideout, in the Batmobile).
I can still recall David, who left the show rather abruptly.
Our PBS station da a bloc of Sesame Street, The Electric Company and mister Rogers Neighborhood. Then, Zoom was on later in the afternoon. I also vaguely recall some show with what I think was an animated Chinese boy, but would then show footage of different cultures from around the world. At least, those are the hazy images in my head. I've never been able to identify the show. It was early 70s PBS; but I have had no luck over the last couple of decades, doing internet searches.
I hope they do something special, on the show, like the did after the death of Mr Hooper.

One of the great actors of the last four decades. He still had much to offer.

R. I. P. Pervis Spann. Unless you are a huge Blues or R&B fan you likely don't know the name Pervis Spann. But his influence permeated those genres as a DJ and promoter. Spann was instrumental in promoting the careers of B.B. King, Aretha Franklin and countless other artists.

RIP to pro wrestler Scott Hall, aka Razor Ramon, in the WWF. Hall was one of the stars of the post-Hulk Hogan 90s WWF and had some of the best matches of that era, before moving to WCW to launch the NWO angle, which set WCW on fire, just as Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock were taking off, in the WWF, launching the explosion in popularity of pro wrestling in the late 90s.
I have a bio posted in the wrestling thread. Hall was a hell of a performer, but also his own worst enemy, destroying his body and life with drug and alcohol abuse. In recent years, thanks to help from friend Diamond Dallas Page, he was relatively clean and sober (there were a couple of relapses); but his body paid the price and he suffered a broken hip, in a fall and was hospitalized. Complications set in as a blood clot caused 3 heart attacks and he was placed on life support, with family and friends gathered to say goodbye. He passed away earlier today.
Say goodbye to the Bad Guy.
I hope he is finally at peace.

RIP to British actor Peter Bowles.... Bowles had a long career in stage and television; but, is probably best known in America for the comedy series To The Manor Born, with Penelope Keith and the mystery series Rumpole of the Bailey, starring Leo McKern, based on the stories by John Mortimer. In the former, Bowles played Richard Devere (aka Bedrich Polouvicek), head of a food retail conglomerate, who buys the country estate and manor house of Penelope Keith's Audrey fforbes-Hamilton, who is forced to sell, after the death of her husband, who squandered her family's money. The clash of old family and nouveau riche gives way to a charming romance, as Audrey schemes to find a way to reclaim her heritage, but finds herself falling in love with the "grocer" who owns it. It was a wonderful pairing and a delightful series. In Rumpole, Bowles played Sir Guthrie Featherstone, the Head of Chambers and Rumpole's often adversary, but just as often friend. In the 60s, Bowles was a constant face in the various ITV adventure shows (usually as a villain), including The Avengers, The Saint, The Protectors, Department S, The Baron, Danger Man, The Prisoner, Adam Adamant Lives!, and dramas, such as I, Claudius. In film, he was seen in The Assassination Bureau, Ltd, and The Bank Job. Terrific actor, who excelled at comedy or drama.

Not a name that will ring any bells for most folks here, but Dutch weatherman Piet Paulusma passed away at the age of 65, concluding his struggle with cancer.
He was probably our country's most well-known weatherman of the past 20-30 years, with his more loose and casual presentation on outside locations and his signature sign off "Oant moarn", ('See you tomorrow' in the regional Frisian language).

One of the scariest episodes of *any* TV show is SPACE 1999’s “End of Eternity”. Peter Bowles is chilling as immortal killer Balor. That episode stayed with me for a while.

From what memories I have of watching wrestling I think if there was ever anyone else who could have made the same transition The Rock did from wrestling to action movie star, he'd be the guy: he seemed to have that kind of charisma and stage presence and ability to get into different characters. But maybe his personal problems would have prevented him from succeeding in that arena.
