Man, that sucks. RIP, Mr. O'Neill.

Awful news. O'Neill's covers for the Eagle reprints of Nemesis the Warlock were one of the things that got me hooked on 2000AD. It looked like nothing else on the stands. R.I.P.

I loved his Marshal Law stuff, once I got pass the violent surface. Some wicked satire in those. League of Extraordinary Gentleman goes without saying.
The only artist to be banned by the Comics Code Authority, purely on the basis of his drawing style!

I haven't seen any official notifications yet, but I have seen multiple Spanish people post that Carlos Pacheco died. Carlos was known for his work on Marvel (Excalibur, Avengers Forever, X-Men, Captain America) and DC (Superman, Green Lantern), but in my mind first and foremost for his work with Kurt Busiek on the creator-owned Arrowsmith. Carlos was suffering from ALS and retired earlier this year.

Bummer! I loved Arrowsmith. I wonder if this means we will never see the long promised follow-up, because I cannot imagine it with anything other that Pacheco's artwork.
R.I.P. Carlos Pacheco

Yeah, even his wikipedia entry has been updated, and I see several people have shared the news on fb. Truly awful - another, like O'Neill, taken away too soon.

The second 6-part series, Behind Enemy Lines - with Pacheco doing the art - was published earlier this year.

I remember this. I think it was a Green Lantern Annual story. The CCA said that there wasn't any specific imagery that triggered them; they just didn't like his style. Gotta give DC full credit for just rolling their eyes and printing it anyway without the code seal, even though it wasn't a big social statement like the drug issues.

I still lay to my claim Batman: Mask of the Phantasm was THE best Batman movie period.
