Leon Russell, famed songwriter/pianist who played on many iconic 1960's recordings including early Bob Dylan albums and the Beach Boy's California Girls. Part of Joe Cocker's famous Mad Dogs And Englishmen touring group. Brought the house down during his solo set at the famous George Harrison Concert For Bangla Desh.
Personally, his first 3 solo albums from the early 1970s were huge favorites of mine
Dead at the age of 74 due to heart bypass complications.

Sharon Jones-I just picked up 3 or 4 of her CDs from the library about a month ago. Her soul now fills the heavens

I was privileged to see Ms Jones in concert more than once. Between her late start in the music business and her way too early death, the fates cheated us out of a lot of great music.
Just saw her on the final episode of Luke Cage a few hours ago and was hoping her health had improved.
And pancreatic cancer is one of the most painful ways to go. 2016 is really en route to be one of the worst years for news in my life.

RIP Florence Henderson, probably best known to the world as Carol Brady. She passed today at age 82 EW obit . The Brady Bunch was a staple of my childhood, something that traveled with me no matter where or how many times my family moved. I haven't watched it in years, but memories of it still make me smile when I think about it. You'll be missed Ms. Brady. -M |

Mrs. Brady one of my most favorite Television Mom - and one of the best. I watched that show and it's re-runs and the movies that followed and always made me feel good. Florence Henderson is one great lady and I'm really sad that she died so suddenly.

Despite his age, it was a shock... Fidel Castro had been there forever, like Queen Elizabeth.
Such a key figure of the XX century. Here's hoping that all the good things he did for Cuba are maintained, and all the bad left behind.
