I will always remember Weathers for The Six Million Dollar Man, as one of the bad guys (who all just happened to be ex-NFL players) who kidnaps Larry Csonka (given the creative name of Larry Bronca) and Csonk and Steve Austin take them on in a football game to escape/take them down. The bad guys were Carl Weathers, Mike Henry (Tarzan in 2 films, Green Berets, Longest Yard, Marget Houlihan's husband for the Olympics episode of MASH) and Dick Butkus.
Also a favorite for Force 10 From Navarone, as a medic and prisoner of some MPs who ends up on the plane the commando team takes to Yugoslavia to blow up a dam.
Given that he didn't study to be an actor, he turned into a pretty good one.

Weathers majored in theater studies in college so he had some training in acting.

I was a huge Weathers fan. From Rocky too Predator to Action Jackson etc. If he was onboard I wanted to see it. Sad news. Lost a huge star.

Yeah, since I knew he had changed his name, I never had that problem. Yeah, that's the one. I realised my mistake when I was posting something on this board about a Batman story written by Owsley, and discovered he had changed his name to Christopher Priest not long after that story was published. |

I loved The Space Machine, his parallel take on War of the Worlds. He really knew how to tell a good story. May his memory be a blessing, and his works kept in print. |

Rob Allen and I met Mr. Delbo at Emerald City a few years back. I know I had him autograph a few books, probably issues of Wonder Woman, though I've forgotten which ones. He was a very nice, very humble man and it was a great pleasure to meet him.

José Delbo's art on Transformers was my gateway into Marvel Comics, and I've always continued to appreciate his pencils, although he was perhaps not as highly regarded as some of the other contributors to the book. For my money, he drew dynamic action scenes, could convey emotion well in his robotic renderings of the Autobots and Decepticons, and had a knack of having many members of the sprawling cast of Transformers appear in the background of panels, going about their business. I'm grateful for the childhood memories!
