Hey guys
I haven't really kept up with newer comics over the last 10-15 years. So I'm wondering who are your personal favorite modern artists and is there anyone today who closely resembles some of the great 70's artists like Gene Colan and Don Perlin?
Thanks

Current artists that I enjoy seeing their work include Joe Bennett, Carmine Di Giandoemico, Mikel Janin, and Nicola Scott.

I think my favorite artist to emerge in the last several years is Francesco Francavilla. From his work on Batman, to his creator owned Black Beetle, to Afterlife with Archie and his work for Marvel on GotG, Hawkeye, Cap and other books, I loved his stuff, moody and stylistic.

Max Fiumara's work on the Abe Sapien ongoing is stellar. James Harren's Rumble comics and all his Dark Horse work has also been really impressive Roberto de la Torre's art has been constantly good, especially on the recent Death-Defying Doctor Mirage Sean Murphy is one of the biggest artists to emerge in the past 10 years IMHO, all of his work is stellar James Stokoe also is one of those new singular voices I love. Greg Tocchini is also someone I have my eyes on. Jason Latour has made some giant leaps recently.

I'm more of a straightforward superhero fan. My favorite artists of recent vintage include Alex Ross, Ivan Reis, J. H. Williams III, Chris Sprouse, Nicola Scott, Mikel Janin, Steve McNiven, Art Baltazar, Bryan Hitch, Pete Woods, Gene Ha, John Cassaday and Michael Lark.

Declan Shalvey is another newcomers whose art I really liked. First noticed it on an arc of Wood's Conan, aside from Becky Cloonan it was the only art I liked a lot on his run, and then he took it to another level doing Moon Knight with Warren Ellis.
And Action Ace, I don't know if you can call guys who have worked in the industry for 20 years of "recent vintage"-guys like Ross, J.H. Williams III, Sprouse, Hitch, Ha and Cassaday have been working in the industry since the 1990s, not really new guys on the block. Lark is a little more recent, only having done it for oh 15 years or so. McNiven close to that as well since the CrossGen days.

Yeah, what exactly defines modern is sometimes a bit hard. I wanted to nominate David Aja, Fiona Staples and Stjepan Šejić, but they have been working for 10 years now. Juanjo Guarnido has been working for 15 years.

Wait, they have been doing this for so long? I'm getting old"-comment.

Plus 25 years is a career for some folks, by the 25 year standard, Kirby was a "new" talent when he started the FF with Stan Lee in '61 and Gardner Fox was a new comic writing talent when he created the JLA in the Silver Age even after having worked on the entire run of the JSA in All-Star. -M

I really enjoy Nicola Scott and her work on Teen Titans. She was also an actress in Australia before becoming an artist. And ... uh , she's a babe.
