I'm off for a gig in Vancouver htis sunday, staying there 3 days, with little free time. Anyone knows anything about comic shops there, or at least someone who does? I'm mostly after alternative, indie, fanzines, and various floppies.
Thanks!

Thaks Rob! Yeah, I saw that as well, but it's hard to find real reviews, especially in regards of what I'm after. But it seems Golden Age Collectibles, The Comicshop and Lucky's comics might be worthwhile? Any ideas or other ideas?

Keep an eye out for the old Barry Blair stuff. I have a feeling it's more common there than it is here.

The naked Elf and Aircel guy? The only stuff of his I have is because it also features Dave Cooper. Are people after his stuff nowadays?

The naked Elf and Aircel guy? The only stuff of his I have is because it also features Dave Cooper. Are people after his stuff nowadays? He did some Elfquest, too.. I'm pretty sure he was on one of the 'extra' titles in the late 80s and WarP was a whole line. I've never been to Vancouver, but I do travel, and thus try to hit random comic shops. I find about 1/2 these days aren't actually comic book shops, but actually just sell trades and Funko guys.. I've been to more than a few that don't have back issues at all. Thus, I often go by proximity when checking one out, to lessen disapppointment. I will say that if the name is something like 'games and comics' ,they're likely to not have many comics, but, those they do have probably won't be priced properly. Sometimes it's horrific (they'll be selling a bin on mid 90s junk for $5-$10 an issue.. the wizard value from 1998), but sometimes it's where you can really make out. For what you're looking for, I'd try to go to their web sites... if you're looking for indy stuff, a store that has that is likely to advertise it and be the kinda store that does signings and such.

Yes, thanks Wildfire. I did visit their websites and Yelp reviews, but got too much conflicting ones and no real idea if the back issue cat is large or good so far, very tricky...

Yeah... the thing I find most helpful is when they have pictures of the inside of their store. More longboxes = more chance for quarter/dollar bins and finding something good, IMO.
Also, I find that when the store is in a mall, it's almost always overpriced. In fact, the better the location (retail wise) in general the less interesting the stock.
