Just finished reading a magazine I picked up at the grocery store: Hollywood Icons - The Best of Batman. It mostly focuses on Batman on TV & in the movies. However it starts with Batman's creation in 1939 for the comic books. It does a great job explaining Bill Finger's contribution to creating the Batman mythos & doesn't hold back on Bob Kane's poor treatment of Bill Finger's role in co-creating Batman.
