Two weeks into the new structure, the newly merged Modern Comics Section has been quite busy, but the new Comic-Related TV/Movies/Games and Comic-Related Toys & Collectibles sections seem a tad more sparse. Would merging the two into one combined "Comic-Related Media and Collectibles" section be a good move?
I'd like to hear your thoughts...

I don't think either is getting a lot of traffic, so it wouldn't hurt to combine the two and streamline the forum page a bit more. I do think moving some of the media threads still in community-The Dr. Who, Star Wars (May the Force Be With You), Star Trek, etc. into the TV/movie forum instead of community would increase the traffic there without impairing the community section, which has a lot of traffic on other subjects anyways.

After a lengthy discussion, we decided we were hesitant to introduce additional sections that are not specifically comic related. We don't want to walk the precipice of that slippery slope, at the bottom of which lies a community with no real focus.

I think the TV/Movies/Games thread will start picking up some traffic once the new fall season starts. We're in the dead zone at the end of summer right now, but in the next few months, you're going to have the season premieres of Arrow, Flash, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (and yes, I refuse to omit the periods), iZombie, The Walking Dead, Daredevil, Gotham, and Agent Carter, along with the series premieres of Supergirl, Jessica Jones, Legends of Tomorrow, Lucifer, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist.
Just speaking for myself, I have really no interest in collectibles (outside of a few little things here and there), so having to hunt through threads to get to discuss the TV shows and movies I like would actually probably decrease my traffic in there rather than increase it if it were just one big dumping ground.
If it were me, I'd wait a few months before combining the two to see if the new TV season helps out. Just my two cents: could be worth more, could be worthless.

I definitely agree that the two sections aren't all that closely related, and I'm willing to give them more time. Any other opinions on the matter?

Honestly I don't think it makes much sense to merge the Toys & Collectable forum with the TV Film forum. I assumed the creation of the TV Film forum would mean that all the media threads in the Community board would go there. Personally I would drop the Comics-Related title from both forums and move the rest of the threads that fit in those boards. Seems like that would be the best way to move traffic there as well as stimulate conversation.

We don't want to walk the precipice of that slippery slope, at the bottom of which lies a community with no real focus. If I had the impression that the majority of the membership here would like to purposefully move away from a classic-comic focus and create a community more devoted to classic works in general (comics, literature, film, music, etc.) that would be different, but I don't get the impression most folks would be in favor of taking that route.

I'm happy with fewer boards. So I'm more than fine with this proposal.

Giving this more thought, I'm going to give the TV/Movies/Media section more time. We already see a little more activity there, and Richard Bishop's point about them picking up traffic as we move into the Fall is noted.
I am seriously considering merging the Collectibles and Fan Fiction threads back into the Community Discussion, though. They do not seem to be receiving much attention. Thoughts? Suggestions?
Heck, we could make it an all-purpose TV/Movies/Video Games section after all if we eliminate the other two. That way, comics discussion still dominates the main page.

Yeah, that makes sense. Really, I think we only need 4 boards: Classic stuff, modern stuff, other stuff and Rob Leifeld Appreciation.
