I have that issue of Brave and Bold in my collection and I agree, Nick Cardy drew a very sexy, beautiful Dinah Lance and Black Canary. He drew some of the most beautiful women ever. That is a great issue too, but sad that she thought she had found Larry again only for the story to turn out the way it did. And yes, she did use her choker in the golden age to hold stuff that helped her out. I recommend the DC Archives Black Canary edition. Great golden age stories of Black Canary and Larry.

#1 Zatanna, Mistress of MagicAlter Ego - Zatanna Zatara First Appearance Hawkman #4, (October–November 1964) Silver and Bronze Ages Costume Features that I like the mostBeautiful Free-Flowing Costume that designed to be Functional and Sexy at the same time. Very detailed, classy, elegant, good use of white and black. I just loved the inner part of the cape to be black and the outer part of the cape to be white. Loved the little use of red in her hair and earrings too. I like the oversize circled white earring (lower part) with "Z" that I feel enhance the costume to the point of total uniqueness. The boots, the red brooch, and the fancy free-flowing top completes it. Of all the costumes that I've seen in DC Comics history from 1935 to 1980 ... this one takes first place in every category that I can think of. I know that some of you are shocked by my selection here - but it is the best that I seen and I have seen well over 300 costumes in DC Comics History and this one is a true winner in my book. Very Sexy! Four Favorite Pictures of Zatanna!Artist George Perez - I have a copy of this artwork.Great Close-Up of Zatanna

Lynda Carter can play both Wonder Woman and Zatanna quite nicely see for yourself!Serinda Swan as Zatanna in Smallville. I still think Lynda Carter in her early days could easily pull it off base on the pictures that I shared here.

Today's ZatannaStill is the best costume of today and it's one of the most classiest and sexy at the same time. They did a great job modernizing for today and I just loved the simple use of White and Black! Is the Number One Costume of all time! This wasn't an easy list to make and I had to spend a lot of time carefully selecting heroes in the right spot and all and having said that - this list is basically my own opinion of the various costumes that I seen throughout my years of reading DC COMICS. I have seen over 300 costumes and Zatanna rules them all! Thanks everyone here that contributed to this thread!

When I saw Black Canary at #2, I thought Zatanna might be #1. That was not the Zatanna costume I was expecting though. Counting through the fifty entries, my best guess is that sixteen of them would make my Top 50. Good job giant mechanical kaiju, on to Marvel! (I'm trying to think of ten better than Captain Ultra and I just can't do it )

Bolland's art often strikes me as a little cold and angular but I like this one.

Zatanna was a surprise, and I must admit I prefer her 60s magician outfit complete with fishnets and top hat, haha! The 80s look is good too and a bit more inline with the way her character was being depicted at that point.Great countdown MechaGodzilla! Not sure who would be in my 50....these come to mind
Dream Girl, Starboy, Enchantress, Mon-El, and many of the same characters you chose as well. Great job and bring on Marvel!

Bolland's art often strikes me as a little cold and angular but I like this one. I love this image too. "Zatanna's Search" was the first tpb I picked up a few years ago when I got back into comics, because of the striking cover (I'd never read the stories in this collection before).

I am a big fan of Nick Cardy art and his run on the Teen Titans. If you pick up that Black Canary Archives, it also has a couple of Black Canary stories with art by Alex Toth. I think I got my copy on Amazon and it was less than $20. It is truly a gem with great art and stories.

If only the search for her mother had made for as good a story as that for her father. Or been showcasing a better costume.

Greatest ever? He's good, but he's no Neal Adams.
As great as Adams is, an Infantino cover did more than assure me that the interior artwork would be great (assuming he was on pencils), it also assured me that the story inside would be amazing (not that it always was, but you could see how I could think that).

#5 Superman, The Man of Steel Alter Ego - Clark Kent First AppearanceAction Comics #1 Golden, Silver, and Bronze Ages Costume Features that I like the mostOne of the most iconic costumes around and one of the most recognizable insignia on his chest - the Big Red "S" in a stylish, futuristic sense of the word. I love the red cape, the red boots, and the use of yellow in his costume makes it pop! This costume will always be in my heart as the true Superman - when they got rid of the red briefs part of my youth just went away. You've don't mess with the original Man of Steel and this version is the Best of the Best. Silver Age Superman
I love Superman's outfit and I can't think of any character with a greater emblem than he. I sort of wish that when it really became stylized (ie. when the 'S' became incorporated into the outer border of the emblem) the early 40's emblem (with the border) would have been retained for the cape.
Something I still can't figure out about his uniform though, is his cape tucked into his costume or is it held in place by his upper pectoral muscles?
