He's supposed to come back? Their first date didn't end well... No idea really, but I thought he was gonna be staying around for a while. Maybe I'm wrong. I've not seen that particular episode yet.

Any idea when the next episode airs? I'm not sure what the networks use for scheduling in the US, but from the other side of the Atlantic it just appears they're just throwing a 39-sided dice* to get the number of days to the next episode.
(* yes, I know it should be "a die", but seriously, who doesn't use dice as single and plural?)

Any idea when the next episode airs? I'm not sure what the networks use for scheduling in the US, but from the other side of the Atlantic it just appears they're just throwing a 39-sided dice* to get the number of days to the next episode. (* yes, I know it should be "a die", but seriously, who doesn't use dice as single and plural?) US scheduling goes in bursts. Usually the fall season is Sept.-Nov/early Dec and takes a break for the holiday season, with November being a sweeps month where the ratings numbers are measured and determine ad rates. The holiday season coincides with a dip in ratings and interruptions to schedules for holiday specials anyways. When episodes do air in this season it is reruns, unless they have a Christmas episode planned. If shows have midseason replacements that air during the break, those start in January (think Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter) and the show resumes in Feb/March and runs to May (another sweeps month). Otherwise the show usually starts back up in late January and runs through MAy with a few reruns likely during late March/April to push the finale into May and sweeps month. So Big Bang will likely return with new episodes sometime after the first of the year. Don't know for certain though, but that's how broadcast network television usually works in the States. -M

Ah, of course, that makes so much sense - it's more random than the dice!
I guess it looks more random to Us Over Here because our series tend to be much shorter*, so they don't get interrupted as much - they might end up on a different channel if there's something "important" on (World Cup, Wimbledon, etc) but don't normally get displaced unless it's for some "charidee" telethon evening like Children in Need or Comic Relief. Our lot tend to just schedule series to finish prior to big holidays and then show "extra special Xmas editions" of "family favourites"** over the year-end, rather than take mid-season breaks.
(* well, other than crappy soaps, and who cares what they do?) (** ie repeats, or unwatchable pap)

US shows are typically done in lots of 13 or 22 episodes. 13 gets you form late Sept through October and November and into early Dec usually and save a couple for February sweeps. The back nine usually run mid-March, April, May where seeps covers season finales. Repeats or alternate programming (sports, specials, what have you) fill in the gaps. And summer is usually rerun season. Mid-season replacement shows (like Agent Carter) are shorter (8 episodes maybe). Once you get to cable channels (HBO shows like Game of Thrones, etc.) it's a different ballgame, and Netflix type shows another ballgame too. But network broadcast television shows still run the old seemingly obtuse way.

Series wrapped with a bit of a return to form - Leonerd's father was good and his interactions with Sheldon's and Leonerd#s mothers were pretty sharp and actually quite funny in parts.
Overall, this series has has some moderate episodes, a few almost-good ones and a mountain of really really dire ones. The best were probably better than series 7 & 8, the worst were arguably the worst in the show's history.

The frustration with the show is that it has never hit the heights of the first 3 series, so you get ready to write it off... then it hits some form, so you stay with it, then it's really crap for ages, and you get ready to write it off... then it rediscovers some form... IMHO, most of series 1-3 were stellar, 4 & 5 were poor, 6 started mediocre and got really good - maybe not quite to the heights of the original 3 series, but very good, then 7 was dreadful, 8 was even worse, the start of 9 was worse still... then they pulled back from the abyss and got some much better episodes. I'm hoping the last one was an aberration and they get back on form again, though it's even money whether we get that or several weeks of tedious unfunny dramady. Pretty much sums up how I feel on a season by season basis. Seems like the writers have gotten super lazy and I can usually guess the punchline before it's delivered, as it's incredibly predictable. These days, I've mostly been watching just because I've seen all the episodes so far and I'm kind of OCD like that. I wish they'd just wrap up the show and end it.

I was never, ever was a fan of the Big Bang Theory and that's why I never, ever bother with it. I just find the humor not my taste and it's the script of the show has gotten worst each passing season. Sorry Everyone!
