Okay, so the title doesn't exactly roll off the tongue and it isn't the most original but seeing as it is a sequel of sorts to last year's Batman Eternal I suppose that it excusable, never the less though the first issue was pretty great. I loved the set up with Dick, Jason and Tim; in a short action sequence it really gave each of them the time to establish their own unique voices as well as setting up their rolls and the intro for Harper Row and her interaction with Gordon as Robobat was genuinely funny. Basically though the impetuous behind the plot though is that Batman had a deep secret about the nature of Robin, with the implication being that he caused the tragedies responsible for his young wards taking up the roll. Now, we don't know if this is true or the work of a pair of mysterious new villains known as Mother and the Orphan(which is an interesting take on Batman and Robin) but given Synder's record I think it's safe to say that it might be partially true, which if it comes to pass will be very disappointing. Still, I can't say that I didn't enjoy this issue; the art was great and like I said the character work was fun so I'm in it for the foreseeable future on this new weekly book.

I liked the Batman Eternal books that came through the library, though I suspect the plot wouldn't make much sense if I read it slowly and paid attention.
I will be excited to get this when it comes through the library.
I hope that Batman did not kill Dick Grayson's parents, though - but, y'know, really stupid stuff tends to get reteconned or ignored pretty quick. DC Continuity is like the weather in Denver - If you don't like it wait ten minutes.

LOL. I thought it looked interesting, but not interesting enough to commit to buying it every week... I might get it out of the Library at some point.

The plot was solid enough for a weekly, there were some elements that at times seemed important but were later forgotten but over all it was a fun experience until the end, which is how I feel about a lot of Snyder's work. I'm hoping for an equally fun ride with this new weekly.

Jason Todd using "dick" as a pejorative really surprised me. I'm not a prude, but between that and a black character being called a "mouth-breathing monkey" in the last issue of Superman has me questioning DC's company direction right now.

The dick thing isn't very new, but what issue was the mouth breathing comment from, I don't recall it.

#2 While this issue doesn't provide us with any clues to the revelation from last week, or any real forward momentum it does feature a fun continuation of the flash back from the last issue of Dick as Robin on the trail of the Scare Crow. I really loved the scene with him and Batman in the corn field and Dick trying to get a "psychological edge" on the Scare Crow by taunting him, it was funny and totally in character for a young Dick Grayson. On top of that the art during the hallucination was great, I love the distorted looks on the classic rogues.

Two issues in and I'm enjoying it so far. Young Dick's hallucinations echoed the sentiments of a lot of people that prefer the ultra-gritty take on Batman. I'm looking forward to reading a story that seems to be about reaffirming the need for Robin.

I'm enjoying this book too so far, which is kind of odd for me as I dislike the modern Batman, and loathe Gordon as Batman(I refuse to read the issues with him as Bats). The interplay between Batman and Robins was well handled last week so Im in for a while at least.
Actually it feels good to have a DC book to look forward to, as even the few I do get are more out of sympathy than love.

These Batman family type books are usually fun, I liked eternal a lot as well.

I liked the first Eternal better than almost everything else Batman related since the reboot, but in this sequel the dialogue is off, and I don't buy any of the revelations yet.

I REALLY like his Batman run and I generally liked Eternal, but they seemed polar-opposite-y storytelling wise.
