Marvel released some movie news this past week that I have seen mentioned here yet: marvel.com/news/movies/25244/marvel_studios_phase_3_update
The biggest part of the announcement, to me, is releasing the title of another film: Ant-Man and the Wasp! So Ant-Man gets a sequel and the Wasp gets co-billing, so we know she'll be suiting up. I'm happy because I really liked the first one, and I thought Evangeline Lilly and Paul Rudd had great chemistry. I was worried that we'd have to wait until way after the announced schedule was done for another Ant-Man movie, but they're plunking Ant-Man and the Wasp right in the middle of the existing schedule on July 6, 2018.
Two existing films are being rescheduling. Black Panther is vacating the July 6 slot to move up to February 16, 2018. Captain Marvel is being moved back from November 2018 to March 8, 2019. I'm not sure if Black Panther is moving up because Marvel now wants it before Infinity War starts or because they have more confidence in Ant-Man in a prime summer slot (or something else). And why move Captain Marvel back when the previous slot is still July 2018. Are there issues with development? Do they think 4 MCU movies in one year is oversaturation? Maybe the number crunchers have decided that the early part of the year (February and March) is more lucrative than previously thought.
Also, three release dates in 2020 were announced without titles being announced. The slots could go to sequels or they could go to new characters.
