Purple Haze Is In My Brain 'Scuse Me While I Kiss This Guy You do know that it's "'Scuse me while I kiss the sky" though, right? I mean, I know that this is a famously misheard lyric and you're probably just messing, but I wanted to check.

Purple Haze Is In My Brain 'Scuse Me While I Kiss This Guy When I was in middle school I was 100% convinced those were the lyrics, and that Jimi was the greatest queer icon of all time.

Yo Confessor, I was told it's "Kiss this guy" and not only that, the "guy" was the late Davey Jones from the Monkees fame.

Yo Confessor, I was told it's "Kiss this guy" and not only that, the "guy" was the late Davey Jones from the Monkees fame. Nah, on the famous studio recording of "Purple Haze" Jimi definitely sings "'Scuse me while I kiss the sky". The song is about the LSD experience, so singing that you could "kiss the sky" is perfectly in line with the idea of being "high"...as in, up in the sky. However, I once read (think it might've been in Noel Redding's autobiography) that the "kiss this guy" twisted lyric was already so famous within a year or so of the record coming out that sometimes in live performances Jimi would actually substitute that incorrect line for the real one, while nodding to drummer Mitch Mitchell. It was kind of an in-band joke. I've never heard the Davy Jones thing, but it can't really be true because that isn't the line of the song. Bizarrely, the Jimi Hendrix Experience did go on tour with The Monkees, as their support act in the U.S. in early 1967. Needless to say, the teenyboppers that came to scream at the Monkees were somewhat bamboozled by Jimi Hendrix!

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now It's just the sprinkling of the mayqueen
Thank god for that. I was a bit worried
