Because this doesn't sound anything like the Izombie comic. I
(A) I haven't seen the show. (B) I've only read the first two Izombie trades, so it's possible that the series turns into Chew in the comics. (C) Chew is pretty much my favorite comic right now.
So are they trying to adapt Chew while drawing in the Walking Dead audience? Shame! Not cool!

I'm not familiar with the comic but the show seems like it's aimed at teenage girls, at least from the TV promotions.

No. They both get flashes of memory after eating, but that's it. The guy in Chew can do it with anything, it's a natural ability he has, he lives in a future in which chicken is banned, he works for an officially sanctioned government department...the lead in Izombie (both in the comic and show, which have different characters) only get flashes after eating brains, it's a consequence of being a zombie, she lives more or less in "our world", she has to keep it secret, has to eat brains regularly to keep from going "full zombie"...they're all cool, but they have distinct characters and styles and said characters are in very different circumstances.

It's different from Chew, but it's definitely different from the iZombie comic as well. They took an early issue of the comic and turned it into an ongoing series, but it never gets as weird as the comic does.

And she works for a law enforcement agency like the guy in Chew - and not like the woman in the REAL IZombie - and has basically the same superpowers? I grant you this is not 100% correlation, but it seems as much (or more) like "Chew" the TV Series as it does IZombie. Or it might be just coincidence, and me being grumpy when suits screw up adaptations of creator owned properties. I should finish reading the Allred Izombie series, though. That was the gumption. And just not bother my pretty head about stupid tv shows.

As I said, the powers aren't exactly the same, and she's not an official agent of a law enforcement agency, just an assistant ME who has an in with a detective and goes way outside her job description.
