Here's a fun one, pulled out a B&W Harley Quinn statue based on Paul Dini's original concept sketch for the character. While I love the classic design he settled on for the animated series, there is something so cool about the retro stylings of this one and I think the statue turned out great: And here's Dini's original sketch for comparison:

Have something to say about a toy that doesn't really warrant its own thread? Now you've got a place to share it. For any WWF fans, Chella Toys are doing a lot of retro figures, including this one: I love how retro is still a ‘thing’, whether we’re talking about Transformers, MOTU, the WWF, etc.

I’ve bought some issues. Totally retro articles, everything from old UK comics and Action Man to vintage TV and movies.

Ya know, while I've given a lot of thought to how different the selection of comics available in the UK has been compared to what I have experienced in the US, I have to admit I've never given much thought to toy offerings. Did you guys get all the major licensed franchises that we did? Did you have anything particularly cool that we didn't get stateside? I know you had Transformers, but I'm pretty ignorant on the rest.

Well, when I was a kid, Mattel’s Secret Wars toyline, along with Kenner’s Super Powers Collection, made their way over here. And everything else you could imagine got over here, such as MOTO, Transformers (as you mentioned), Thundercats, etc, etc. The Toy Biz and Tyco stuff, such as X-Men, also got over here. WWF Hasbro, too. WCW by Galoob. I’m willing to bet that everything major found its way to our shores.
I honestly can’t think of anything UK-exclusive that didn’t reach stateside. Perhaps someone else knows.

Perhaps someone else knows. A lot of the Palitoy/Denys Fisher releases in the 70s rarely made it to the States, especially the Mego stuff like the Doctor Who line. Palitoy was the UK producer/distributor of the American Mego stuff, but also did some stuff that had more appeal to UK kids than US kids, and that stuff only reached the US via collectors/second hand sellers and such. Not sure if the practice continued into the 80s, but it was going on in the 70s. The Palitoy stuff had different packaging than the US stuff as well... Palitoy also had a diecast super-hero line I am not sure if there was an American equivalent to... and Palitoy did the GI JOE 12 inch line in the UK as Action Man... -M

I didn’t realise Palitoy was linked with Mego, so that’s fun to learn!

Bet they are pricey in good shape. Painted die-cast tends to chip like crazy. EDIT: Holy crud, I didn't think they'd be THIS pricey!

Me too. Those Wheelers were scary - and as for Mombi and her collection of heads!
Incidentally, there are 46 years between The Wizard of Oz and Return to Oz, I wonder if that’s a record between sequels?

Incidentally, there are 46 years between The Wizard of Oz and Return to Oz, I wonder if that’s a record between sequels? Was it even a direct sequel? I always assumed some other company got the rights to adapt the novels or that they fell into public domain.
