Trying to think of the physics of super-heroes/super-villains. That way lies madness. I did for many years, as a kid I loved both science and comic books (and still do). I found it IS sometimes fun to learn why some powers really can't work due to physical principles, or how they "could" work in some scenarios. I think I even learned why there are some major natural limits to how large a creature can grow as one example (ala growing superpower) before I even formally studied the topic on animals (the "square-cube" law alone being an issue). Even just reaching, much less exceeding, light speed for super speed (infinite mass problem). There's also this book on the general theme: www.amazon.com/Physics-Superheroes-Villains-Science-Spectacular/dp/1592405088Ultimately though, I decided everything gets easier if it's all a simulation in the Matrix. Of course suspension of belief gets you there neatly as well. But I like to "nerd out" sometimes.

I don't care if it's impossible, I still want to fly.

Can't believe I'm saying this with a straight face BUT they all carry the genetic potential for benevolent mutation implanted in primordial man by the First Host of the Celestials. Cei-U! I summon the joys of comic book science!
Well done!

Has anyone here at CCF ever got one of those No-Prizes?

Has anyone here at CCF ever got one of those No-Prizes?
I think Rob Allen has one (or have I confused him with my other pal Bill Wormstedt?).
Cei-U! I summon my self-doubt!

If that's true about Rob, "No Laureate" should be added to his signature here.

It was bound to happen. Someone got Stan Lee to sign a 'no-prize' and it was witnessed by CGC - who then slabbed it. It now has an asking price of almost $5,000.00
So someone might be a winner after all.

Because we can't have nice things without someone trying to monetize it.

Trying to think of the physics of super-heroes/super-villains. That way lies madness. What do you mean? They just pull the energy/mass from another dimension. It says so in OHOTMU. I'm actually struggling with intangibility at the moment. Or more with how an intangible person actually moves. Because you can't move without an element of friction, but their isn't any friction if you're intangible. It's mostly not a real problem as soon as I stop thinking and default to what Icctrombone refers to as Slam's Law and recognize that superhero funnybooks are just inherently silly.

It's the particles. They shift phase and move through things. And maybe dimensions. Particles and dimensions.
If it's an X book, someone focused their totality somewhere, too. +

That's a time-proven postulate, axiom, theorem, law, etc. no matter how you slice it.
Doesn't mean that I won't read them, of course, along with all of my other favorite diverse comic niche genres. I probably read more horror, adventure and western comics than anything else these days anyway. I still like superheroes, but the comics universe is so much bigger than just "Earth-616."

At this point I pretty much only read superhero funnybooks if it's a re-read of something I love or if it's for a project.
