Speaking of Transformers and "There, I said it".... I just rewatched all the seasons of the G1 cartoon this week plus the movie. It struck me how GOOD the storytelling could be at times, and how gorgeous the visuals were. Cybertron stuff is like straight-up Sci-Fi, forget the "oh, it's just a toy commercial" nonsense. I'd put some of the best story arcs up there as better than most 60's comics. There, I said it...fire away at me haha!! the '87 Ninja Turtles cartoon, while most of the time goofy as sin, did have it's fair share of neat science fiction concepts. I've always loved how atmospheric and moody the soundtrack to the show can be I ended up buying the full series on DVD a while back when my daughter was interested for a bit. She has since moved onto other things, but I might go back and revisit myself. I recall it being mostly incredibly goofy, but that might be fun enough on its own. I also watched G1 Transformers season 1 when I was in my 20s. I found it to be incredibly corny, but it's been a long time and I haven't watched the other seasons since I was a kid. That might be a fun one to revisit. Any idea if they are streaming anywhere? Also I still own and watch the 1984 movie at times, trauma and all.

I still re-watch the 1990 TMNT movie, I remember the first time watching (and later recording) the "WGN Movie Of The Week" presentation of it. Up until that point I'd only watched Secret Of The Ooze and 3, so the more serious nature of the first movie really kind of grabbed me. Love that soundtrack, Elias Koteas as Casey Jones, whoever ended up being the dub-over voice for Shredder, and that abandoned building that they ended up using as the base of operations for the Foot Clan

I watch it now and then too.

There's plenty of corny stuff in G1 for sure, but there are moments it gets really good in my mind. Even take the movie, the opening where Unicron devours the planet...the stunning animation, epic music, drama of it all, pretty intense! Then there's of course some goofy stuff too. Love some of the concepts like the Quintessons as well. I watch it on DVD, but I think G1 may be streaming on Tubi.

I watched S1 and part of S2 with my boys recently, and it held up much better than He-Man. S2 is so astonishingly long so that they could rapidly hit the syndication threshold.

It's a standard and accepted practice in the bookselling industry and common in remaindered books, along with remainder marks across the edge of the pages. Even in the vintage world it isn't judged as a serious flaw.
I understand that, but to a collector, books with signs of being 'remaindered' such as prices being clipped or those remainder marks are still considered downgraded copies when compared to one that's in perfect shape, even if the rest of the book is not damaged at all.
This one survived, its price wasn't clipped in the top right corner of the DJ. This 1966 hardcover was treasury size and very nicely done.

I watch it now and then too. It was also WAY more advanced, technologically, than anything that had been attempted like that before.... costumes with animatronic heads. It has such a teeny budget, but Henson's creature shop really knocked it out of the park. It was filmed in Wilmington, NC, which is where the creature shop moved to for the duration of the filming. and for the subsequent movies.

Ooooooh! I've got the softcover version of that (a little rough, but I only paid $4), but would kill for the HC.

Yes, I remember having some sort of behind the scenes feature on VHS. It might have been a tie in with Pizza Hut or something? I don't recall, but I found it fascinating, and I think the appearance holds up shockingly well. Far better than the CGI abominations that recently came out.

I have no idea how every member of the Fantastic Four hasn't died of mesothelioma.

Trying to think of the physics of super-heroes/super-villains. That way lies madness.

Trying to think of the physics of super-heroes/super-villains. That way lies madness. What do you mean? They just pull the energy/mass from another dimension. It says so in OHOTMU.

I have no idea how every member of the Fantastic Four hasn't died of mesothelioma. There. I said it. Can't believe I'm saying this with a straight face BUT they all carry the genetic potential for benevolent mutation implanted in primordial man by the First Host of the Celestials.
Cei-U! I summon the joys of comic book science!
