Marvel Comics' Shogun Warriors was a missed opportunity. Agreed. But Giant Robots within the already overflowing Superhero world on Marvel is a tough sell. Add the cost of licensing at the time makes this a difficult series. Unlike today when there is Anime you can see all over via DVD or internet or Youtube/etc there wasn't much known about these "toys" unless you knew where to look. Like Godzilla, this series could have run another year but i think the recognition factor was too low and the stories not as interesting and fun as "Zilla's were. But dang it all i do wish it could have run longer. Love me the giant robot's and monsters of Japan and then some!

Here's what Rob didn't get right. His anatomical proportions burnt the skin from my eyes.

Here's what Rob didn't get right. His anatomical proportions burnt the skin from my eyes. I agree, his anatomy skills are atrocious! but I still prefer the eagle design over the "A". Not saying that Liefeld's actual eagle is perfect, but a similar design would be most welcome IMO.

Ha, I just noticed how tiny Cap's ears are in the pic I posted! They're normal size, it's the rest of his head that's huge.

I'm more a traditionalist and I prefer the "A" over the Eagle in Captain America's Mask - The Eagle doesn't seems right and I just have a hard time accepting it. The "A" put the emphasis on America and that's why I prefer the "A" myself. The Eagle works great for Wonder Woman like thwhtguardian said earlier.
I have been thinking about this all day and I just don't like the Eagle on Captain America and it's looks really odd to me.

I just never understood why Captain America needed a large A on his forehead to define who he is. It has been there so long that people are used to it, but it looks ridiculous! Ha, if there had been an eagle emblem for all of these years and suddenly it was switched to an A emblem people would be like WTF, it doesn't work!! Thank god they never put a big B on Batman's head!

No, but Robin has to wear an R on his chest... and Superman an S. And Wonder Woman switched from an eagle to a stylized WW it's just one of those super-hero conventions that doesn't have to make sense, it just is. If you want to think too closely about it, it's like pulling the string that will unravel the whole shroud that hides the absurdity of the super-hero genre. It works precisely because people don't look too closely or think too deeply about those types of things that are staples of the genre. -M

Perhaps. Wondering what other popular heroes have branded letters on their masks/foreheads though? The A would work better if it were somehow embedded in an eagle or other patriotic type of design. I dunno, it looks stupid, but just is what it is.

I dunno, it looks stupid, but just is what it is. It was quite common for the heores of young boys of that time, the cultural heroes of the day to have letters on their forehead of their uniforms... -M
