I always benefitted from them not having a crowded table. I remember talking to Starlin for about 15 minutes one time and the same for Jim Shooter. I did buy a few Breed TPB's from Starlin while I was there, so as to support him.

Can I have them, then? Because I love the Essential/Showcase format. As an artist, I value being able to see comic art without yesterday's (or today's) crappy coloring. Cei-U! I summon the shameless mooch! Right there with you Cei-U! I tend to read and re-read more of my Essentials and Showcases than i do from my single issues collection. Sometimes i see/find things in the art which i missed or the black and white art helps to show more character within the artwork. My DC war comics Showcases and Horror for DC and Marvel really do deliver much more mood and atmosphere without the color. And the Savage Sword of Conan from Dark Horse shows why this lone black and white magazine managed to last so long on the stands. Same here. Big fan of those big phonebook sized collections.

So glad Starlin is getting his moment in the spotlight due to the Marvel Cinematic Universe highlighting his babies. It is truly sad seeing many of the greats at a convention and they are mostly being ignored. i have personally seen this during the Phoenix Comic-con where a line of people for another artist 3-4 tables down passes right in front of an artist and they will not even look at or speak to them. What passes through some folks minds to ignore these artists and writers? It allows me a great time spent talking and connecting with many of them since there is no line but it mostly saddens me that so many of them are unappreciated in their twilight years. I make it a point to stop and say hello even if not purchasing anything from them and say thanks for their contributions in comic books and that they will always be a part of my youth and life and that i am appreciative for what they have done in the past and what they continue doing today. I missed talking to Ramona Fradon at the Baltimore Con. I saw she had a booth but my daughter & I went to grab lunch. When I came back she wasn't at her table. I could kick myself for not ignoring my stomach.

I could kick myself for not ignoring my stomach. Sorry you missed out. I never take a "lunch break" during conventions. I have a over the shoulder carry back which i carry with me for purchases. Each day i pack it with a couple of sandwiches, trail mix, fruit snacks, granola bars and 3 juice drinks. This way i have my meal handy wherever i may be at during the con. Best time to nibble is arriving early for a panel you want to see and then eating while everyone else is arriving on time or late. I have been lucky enough enjoying quality time with the likes of Mike Baron, Steve Rude, Bret Blevins, Dan Parent, Dan Jurgens, Mike Grell, Don Rosa, Herb Trimpe, Mike Zeck, John Beatty, Scott Hanna, Art Adams, Len Wein, Marv Wolfman, Tom Sciolli and the Pini's. Amazes me this gentlemen at their tables were always sitting alone with absolutely nobody coming over to them. Yet you can't get pass the crowded line of fanboy gawkers at the Zenescope booth or the lines of folk waiting to get a head shot drawn by the current "hot" artists of the moment.

I could kick myself for not ignoring my stomach. I was at a con in White Plains NY in 2000 or so with such a huge turnout of silver age artists that I was determined to get as many autographs as I could. I passed an older gent walking down a hallway and had gone 10 feet or so before I realized his name tag said Craig Flessell. I turned around, but couldn't find him again. Ramana Fradon was at the same show, sharing a table with Marie Severin. While i was talking to them, Paul Levitz came up introduced his child to Ramona. She replied with something like, "It's very nice to meet you. Tell your father none of his editors know what they're doing."

Marvel needs to do a She-Hulk movie already.
...and they need to play "Bad Blood" in the trailer.

That video is better than all the DC Movies combined.

Must be a generational thing. I don't get Taylor Swift's popularity at all - her music, her image, her look, everything about her seems incredibly bland to me. It amazes me that she's such a big star.

Don't underestimate Taylor Swift. She has written and produced many catchy hits and might be the most popular pop star of the last 10 years. My wife likes her because she has kept her circle of friends from her life before fame.

I think Daredevil (the show, not the movie) is the best on-screen superhero story ever (Jessica Jones is just as good, but not really about superheroes). It's vastly better than any other superhero show or movie I've seen.

When editors/publishers hire a working-man writer to write a story in the style of [whoever made a smash-hit] last month. Sometimes it spawns a series, like a product-line. When you read it you can see they are trying to emulate their target author's style, but the more they try the worse it gets somehow...

I don't get that Frank Sinatra. He's not a patch on Rudy Vallee. Durn kids.
