I don't get that Frank Sinatra. He's not a patch on Rudy Vallee. Durn kids. Well, he isn't! What do ten million bobby-soxers know?

Must be a generational thing. I don't get Taylor Swift's popularity at all - her music, her image, her look, everything about her seems incredibly bland to me. It amazes me that she's such a big star. And our parents didn't get the appeal of the pop stars we liked, and their parents didn't get theirs...and so it goes. Very true and I did say it was probably a generational thing, but there's something beyond that too. There are certain pop stars from every generation or era whose popularity I find baffling. Weird Al Yankovic, for example. I just don't see how anyone can find him funny or entertaining in any way. I hear that he once read a comic book. You know, to keep this on topic.

Uh, I can't imagine that Weird Al was ever really popular. It wasn't like he was a big concert draw.

Here now! I love Weird Al (though more for his original material like "One More Minute" than his song parodies) and his movie UHF is one of my greatest guilty pleasures.
Cei-U! Fly, Fifi, fly!

I took my kids to see him (probably close to 20 years ago) and the place was packed.

Yeah, Al is a pretty good draw; and, his concerts are quite good. Whatever you think of song parodies, Al is a real musician and performer. Not only can he write a clever parody of a popular song; he can also create a parody of a style of a song or singer. he has one, "Craig's List," which is about various items listed for sale on Craig's List; but, is done in the style of Jim Morrison and the Doors. Al nails Morrison in the singing.
He's also a real trooper. He played a concert in Springfield, IL that couldn't of been easy. He had just received the news that his parents had been killed in a fire. I was amazed that he still did the show, though I suspect that it was something to help focus on something positive. I wasn't at the show; but heard it was great and a tribute to someone who lives to entertain.

The "There I Said It" threads are the places to go to say the silliest, misinformed statements-and be proud of it
Some of these can be compiled into a best-seller book. Similar to the old one by Art Linkletter-"Kids Say The Darndest Things"

I like superhero's who wear suspenders! There i said it. Original Killraven, enough testosterone to dare to wear his suspenders without a shirt! X-Men's yellow graduation suit for Angel. Used his suspenders to help hold his wings up as well as pants! Doctor Who: bow ties and fez's may be cool but suspenders are snappy! Captain America even has red white and blue suspenders for special occasions!

Also both are charter members of the shaved chest club, though Katar has been seen letting it grow out lately

Those who wear suspenders and belts, not only committing the ultimate fashion faux pas, are deathly afraid of exposing their butt cracks when bending over. This fear can easily be used against them.

I believe it was Grant Morrison and friends who revitalized suspenders for a new era and made them exciting and relevant again.
