I always felt that they really crossed the line by bringing Barry Allen back after 25 years. That was spectacularly pointless. Alive, Barry was just a cardboard cut-out character. Dead, he was DC's one genuine martyr, who was a constant source of inspiration to Wally West, a more engaging Flash by far. Dying was the most interesting thing Barry ever did! Not just Barry. Who cared about the likes of Jean Grey, Kara Zor-El, even Jason Todd before they were killed off? They are defined by their deaths, and bringing them back was stupid and hurt their respective lines in my opinion. Same with Hal Jordan.

Speaking of Brian Blessed, has everyone seen his appearance on QI from a few years ago? The man is a living legend! Someone recently sent me an audiobook of him reading his own autbiography, and it's amazing. I've read the book myself, but hearing him bellowing out his life story in his own voice is an experience not to be missed... Oh yeah, hilarious episode. I was watching these on youtube (when there were full shows illegally posted) and my wife went on line and got me a complete set of episodes (recorded off tv) from someone), up to that point. His appearance on Have I Got News For You is also a scream... (some NSFW language)

It's about time for the Human Torch to grow up and start calling himself John Storm.
There, I said it.

Or they could go the other direction and make him an older guy who refuses to let go of his youth, continuing to wear the hair style and clothes that made him one of the cool kids when he was 18, using out of date slang, etc.

On a sort of related note, as a baseball fan, guys like Chipper Jones and Scooter Gennett have always bugged me. You're grown men and professional athletes, so maybe you should stop going by the nickname someone gave you when you were five years old. It's kind of cute for a little kid, but completely pathetic for an adult.

Johnny Carson, Johnny Cash, Johnny Depp...all grown ups, just saying. Johnny Cash was known as J.R. to his family and friends. I've read that Cash was livid when he saw the label on his first record. Sam Phillips put "Johnny Cash" on the record without consulting Cash. He wasn't called "Johnny" and didn't want to be called "Johnny". He'd expected the record to say "John Cash". Phillips thought "Johnny Cash" had a better sound, more flowing, easier for DJs to say. Anyway, my initial post was tongue-in-cheek; I realized a couple of days ago that I might not recognize the name "John Storm" because it sounds and looks so different from the name I'm used to.

Conan...thief, pirate, brigand, murderer...where exactly is any redeeming feature? What do you expect from a barbarian? Good table manners?

For a forum which in general dislikes Wolverine and the Punisher for their less than stellar methods, I find it somewhat confusing that Conan especially is revered. Wish fulfillment in capes I get, but if our wish fulfillment is a murderous thief...
...the odd thing is Ive loved Conan since I was 14, and wished I could beat up anyone like he could. Still have the same concerns tho.

Conan...thief, pirate, brigand, murderer...where exactly is any redeeming feature? Honesty, courage, loyalty, sense of honour, strong will, self-reliance, rough chivalry, sense of responsibility to the ones he leads, intelligence, curiosity, love for freedom... I'm not sure he and I could have gotten along, but I see much to admire in the bloke.
