By the way, I've wondered since the 80's if "Ed King" was a pseudonym for Williamson and he was doing his own lettering. The style matched really well with Williamson's art, and I can't recall ever seeing a book lettered by Ed King that Williamson didn't work on. According to GCD, King has lettering credits on some non-Williamson comics, including Damage Control #1, Droids #6, Dynamo Joe #4, Evangeline v2 #1-3, Ghostbusters #1-4, Robotech: The New Generation #14, Sabre #10, Timespirits #6-8 and Twisted Tales #4.

Does anyone really spend $100.00 on a Hardcover with a $100.00 cover price? I've got them as low as 10% of cover price, beautiful $29.95 books with 160+ pages for three bucks, less than the price of a new comic. Why sell them for so much when so many of them are liquidated afterwards at a fraction of cost?
There, I shelved it.

I'm guessing it's a gamble waiting on those Hardcovers . You can get them cheaper when they come out, but in the aftermarket , they might get pricey if you want them.

Many Artist Editions from IDW are definitely not cheaper.

If not enough people preorder them at cover (minus whatever discount they get from their lcs, Amazon, or other retailer), then preorders won't hit minimums for production, solicitations will be cancelled and there will be no overstock to be liquidated off for bargain hunters to find. If not for those willing to pay close to msrp on those books, you wouldn't have copies of them at all as they wouldn't have seen print. -M

After seeing the number of warehouse remainders turning up at Ollie's and other retailers, I'd be surprised if the publishers aren't trying to be a lot more precise in determining print runs. And though they're not necessarily represented in this forum, there may be a lot more readers (not collectors) happy to get the digital versions.
So, yeah, it'll be a gamble deciding whether or not to get things when they first come out.
(When I was a teenager, there was bookstore in White Plains that had a summer sale that started with a bunch of books at 20% off, then knock another 10% off each week until they were 90% off. It was always nerve-wracking deciding whether to buy or wait--or try to hide a book in the store someplace, but they watched for that.)

I did for a couple back when they were still kind of a new thing.
Now I just add them to my Amazon wish list and hope a family member buys them for me...

A couple years ago, right place, right time, I came across a huge warehouse inventory that was being liquidated and the books were still sealed. I came out of that deal with about 168 Hardcovers for just over $900...those $50 Archie Archive books were $5 each....

Being on a comic forum, let me say that I loathe autocorrect. No, it’s Batman, not barman. On the other hand, barman is quite the hero who has saved my evening many times.

He likely subdues foes with a 12-step program to the ultimate Delerium Tremens.

Wish Creepy Magazine stories like this were done in colour. These are the first 2 pages of this 6 page tale. I'm not a big fan of B&W.
There, I reached for some crayons.

I absolutely love black and white comics. Especially when done for B&W publication. But even color comics look great when scanned from the original art.
And don't get me started on what computer colorist often do to the art.

I love b&w as a palette for many comics of many genres. But not super-heroes for the most part. I think the super-hero genre loses something in the translation without the bright colors and often gaudy palettes. It's not that I won't read super-heroes in b&w, I just think that particular genre is better suited to color. But some of my all-time favorite comics are done in b&W (and often when a color alternative is available such as with Bone or Elfquest, I prefer the b&W if I go back for a reread).
