I can't be the only one who thinks this Spidey suit looks awful: I'm not a fan of modern costume design at the best of times, but this would be tolerable if only the spider was regular black. But white? It clashes terribly with the red/blue. I think Spidey, along with Superman, are two of the only costumes I would prefer not to be messed with. I think once Romita standardized the design, it was done and perfect. ANYTHING you do to it from that point is going to be inferior. Likewise, Supes' suit sort of congealed in the 40's.. .and any changes are moving away from perfection. I'm looking at you, Nu52.

Some of the things Swamp Thing does with his body creep me out. There. I said it. What about the things Abby Caine did with it ? 😂 Ewww.

Superman himself had to learn that the hard way...
Along with Superman and Spider-Man, a lot of the "classic" heroes pretty much got it right right out of the box (or with a little fine-tuning: Batman, Plastic Man, the Hulk (such as it is), the FF, the revived Flash, GL and Atom, the Creeper.... Simple and distinctive looks that are easily recognizable.

Several months have gone by, and I'm still struggling to comprehend we've lost the gentleman whom this picture pays tribute to. Among far too many others we've lost in recent times. But George was THE artist of my time growing up, and I don't know, it almost feels like the passing of an entire era (and my youth) to me in some symbolic way. I miss you George.

It sucks when the only available copies are all graded 1.8 or less (ie worse than 'good' condition 2.0)

Hey, if the price is right, I'd take it. As long as no pages are missing. Great reading copy.

Clark was majorly smooth looking back in his fedora wearing days. Whatever happened to snappy dressing?

Clark was majorly smooth looking back in his fedora wearing days. Whatever happened to snappy dressing? I do sometimes think about how people used to dress nicely. Most men wore suits and fedoras, women wore dresses or skirts. Nowadays, most people look like they just rolled out of bed. Not that I'm a snazzy dresser myself or anything.

Well according to my wife, my change in fashion to formal casual and my ongoing collection of men's hats is due to my midlife crisis apparently. :-) I was no stranger to formal wear growing up as the family went to church and church functions 3-4 times a week. One day on my lunch break I was reading an article about men dressing for their age. Reading and looking at the examples I saw that I already owned a lot of what I saw (thankfully most of it still fit) and saw other things I wanted to add to my wardrobe. I will tell you from the looks I get, it is not something people are expecting in a Walmart lol. I either get really weird looks or compliments. Especially on my hats. Below, minus the bow tie, as I don't own any nor know how to tie them, is something similar I have worn to an actual formal occasion. If it's more of casual setting than you can either drop the blazer or the vest whichever feels more casual to you. And then replace the shoes with something more casual. Vests are particularly easy to accessorize for a formal casual look, over say a dress coat or blazer. As far as hats it's so much habit now that I never leave home without one. I have 8 different ones at the moment to mix up with depending on what I am wearing and what the weather is. Wearing a black wool fedora in 100 degree weather I found out the hard way is not a good idea. :-( Of course I don't nearly look and dapper as this gentlemen does.

On my mom's side of the family, we always had to dress up for Holiday gatherings and weren't allowed to have jeans for school, until I was old enough to buy them myself, in high school.
Having spent 8 years (including midshipman time) having to wear a uniform to exacting standards, I can relate to the idea of dressing for the occasion; but, these days, I find few occasions in which I want to dress up. I don't really have family gatherings, much, anymore, and when I do, I usually wear the same "business casual," I wear at work. I spent enough of my life having to wear a tie; but, at least at B&N, I could wear character ties and wore Looney Tunes and other cartoon characters. They finally relaxed the men's dress code to allow polo shirts, late in my tenure.
I never really had the right head for fedoras or safari hats (or just never found the right style); but, have worn military berets (not in uniform, but other services or insignias) and now pretty much always wear my "newsboy" cap, which is a more stylish step up from a ballcap, if you ask me.

I believe this holds the record of CGC's most signed book. The yellow label means its representative witnessed the book being signed about 99 times. To me it looks like an eyesore of a mess....too many cooks....but to each his her own.

Impressive as it is, its also expensive on how many times this person had to re-submit this over and over again. That gets costly. I'm sure that book has been downgraded each time it was submitted. How many hands that touched that book. I'm sure it went from 9.8 to 9.0 quickly over the times. I like books graded but I'm not keen on signature books. I have a few but those were mainly sketch covers that I won from the Hero Initiative auctions and wanted them preserved, back then.
