This is the worst.. I did it not too long ago, I had bought a couple things on Ebay, and found the same things locally and forgot about the auction. Luckily, my Nephew has been getting into comics a bit, so I was able to give him a pile

I bought a comic, was beaming from ear to ear, got ready to put it with the rest, opened the drawer to slot it in and.....there it was.
Bought a book I forgot I already had....
Only a tenner and I'll sell the spare without any bother but still....I need to take better stock of what I own.
A handful of similar occasions for me convinced me to finally break down and start using collection software. I used to rely on my "rock solid memory", until I had to finally concede going off of memory was starting to cost me!

I used a want list and crossed things off, when I found them. I also kept a file box of 3x5 index cards, with titles and issue runs, in conjunction with the want list. The want list would change as I discovered new series or specific issues by specific people, especially early work by a favorite.
I can't recall ever duplicating a comic, except in the days of buying the Whitman 3-packs, because of duplication in the bag; but, it was only 2 or 3 comics.
I have bought duplicate books before, but because the title was changed. I had bought a history of the SAS, called Stirling's Desert Raiders, which I enjoyed immensely and then bought a few other books about the SAS, in North Africa and later, in Malaya. I came across one in a used bookstore, called The Phantom Major and snapped it up. Turns out, it was Stirling's Desert Raiders, under a different title (can't recall which was the original).
I have been frustrated when looking for European graphic novels, in my collecting days. I had gotten the Nikopol Trilogy collected volume, from Humanoids, and was trying to find more of Bilal's work, translated, and was specifically looking for Ranks of the Black Order, which was the Catalan Communications edition title. Humanoids was reprinting Bilal's work, including the Hunting Party and some of the rest and I had found a few of the Catalan editions; but not that one. Humanoids eventually reprinted it under The Chaos Effect (with The Hunting Party) and as Black Order Brigade (by itself).

I let this one slip through my fingers earlier. Its main flaw is a hole that goes through the top right front cover and some staining around it. The Starchie story inside was very lightly affected. Ordinarily this type of flaw would be a deal-breaker but I thought it could still be around VG or VG+ territory so I put a half-baked bid in for $49.99 and was the front runner until the last 2 seconds...it then went for about $73.
Would a hole like that bother you?

This is the beginning of the end. I have bought many duplicates in the last 5 years. You need impeccable record keeping to avoid my fate.

This is the beginning of the end. I have bought many duplicates in the last 5 years. You need impeccable record keeping to avoid my fate. I had to buy the same five issues of Master of Kung Fu three times before it finally sunk in that I needed to compile an accurate inventory of my collection and be diligent in keeping it up to date.
Cei-U! I summon the lesson learned!

Looks like it's just the cover, so that wouldn't bother me, but I'm really not a condition person.

This might be the best rendering of Betty and Veronica I've seen in a while. Archie as Elvis looks great too

I can't be the only one who thinks this Spidey suit looks awful: I'm not a fan of modern costume design at the best of times, but this would be tolerable if only the spider was regular black. But white? It clashes terribly with the red/blue.

But white? It clashes terribly with the red/blue. I have less of a problem with the color mix than the design elements. It just seems "busy" and "interrupted, without blending well. The white sections on the forearms and hands really doesn't work and the spider would work better of the torso area was solidly red. Really, I would only do white if we were doing a patriotic Spidey costume, like he was paying tribute to Captain America, or something.. It looks more like a bad downhill skier suit than a superhero.

I don't mind the white as I like contrast, but one of the good things about the game is there are dozens of different Spidey suits you can unlock, so there is bound to be one you like and no reason to endure one you don't. I think I spent most of my time in the Tobey suit.

I found Al Ewing’s Immortal Hulk to be hit and miss. There, I said it.
It started off well. I liked the darker elements, and thought the whole idea of Hulk as immortal was an intriguing one. But there were a lot of stories that seemed slow, the pacing seemed off at times, and there were occasions I felt that Ewing was throwing as many storylines into his run as he could.
It’s not necessarily bad to throw a lot of storylines into one’s run. That’s what a comic run is about. But I found it excessive at times. There were some ideas in there that I definitely felt warranted further exploration.

I don't mind that Spidey costume design, but then I also thought the Ben Reilly suit from the mid 90s (when he became Spider-Man) was really cool.
---
Just a little gripe, but I was reading Alan Davis' Uncanny X-Men, where some events take place in Tajikistan which the comic erroneously says is part of Russia... By then it had been a sovereign state for 7 years.
Of course if Putin reads the comic he'd be like "Yup.. that's in Russia".
Edit: i said Alan Davis', it was Steve Seagle
