The stars of Second City TV said they could not do a parody of Threes Company because whatever they did looked like a regular episode. The show was a parody of itself. Not that such a thing stopped them from satirizing them, while sending up The Godfather....

I should put this in the Classic TV thread but since it's come up here, I loved the Man About the House show in the early or id '70s but could not stand Three's Company. It's possible that being a few years older by the time the US show was aired had something to do with it but I don't think it was only that. The girls were OK but I never found John Ritter remotely likeable and the Ropers in Three's Co weren't nearly as funny as in the UK show. I haven't seen Man About the House since it first aired though, so I can't say for sure I'll feel the same if I ever watch it again.

Totally agree about Ritter - as with the show Three's Company, I never understood the appeal or why he would usually get cast as a guy you're supposed to like and/or identify with. The best role I've ever seen him play, in some made-for-TV movie, was as a doctor who was secretly poisoning and gaslighting his wife while pretending to be a stand-up, caring guy. He was totally believable as a sleazy sociopath.
And yeah, I think this thread is beginning to drift...

Exactly my point, that little scene could have been in a real episode of Three's Company, the show satirized itself.

Three's Company gave our group of friends at least one memorable reference: none of us ever wanted to be a Larry! I also had kind of a teenage crush on Janet. Her and Kate Jackson from Charlie's Angels. (And Jenny Agutter too. Damn those hormones!!!)

She was a very famous and glamorous British actress back in the 70s and early 80s. She got her big start in the beloved British film The Railway Children, but went on to star in successful films such as Walkabout, Logan's Run, The Eagle Has Landed, Equus, and American Werewolf in London. She's pretty famous over here in the U.K. -- at least among those old enough to remember her heyday. Her profile did fall rather sharply in the late 80s and beyond.

I really like An American Werewolf in London.
I just am not sure why a guy attacked on the Yorkshire Moors was sent to a hospital in London. No hospitals in Yorkshire?
Great, great film, though.

I really like An American Werewolf in London. I just am not sure why a guy attacked on the Yorkshire Moors was sent to a hospital in London. No hospitals in Yorkshire? London had better equipped hospitals, with the best doctors specialising in specific treatments (for lacerations, puncture wounds etc). I believe that it is stated in the film that David was first seen by physicians in Yorkshire, who lied about what happened to him, before he was moved to a better London hospital. London has always had the best hospitals, in terms of where the leading doctors and surgeons work and in terms of specialist treatment. Edit: Besides, "An American Werewolf in Yorkshire" isn't as good a title.

I don’t like this kind of exaggerated artwork on Dredd: Happy to look at caricatures - if I’m looking at a cartoon in a broadsheet. Otherwise, I prefer realistic proportions: There, I said it.

This explains why I don't remember her. I did see AWIL but don't remember much of it, but Brit stars often don't do a lot of American work .
