Just wanted to say, I forgot how much I loved this series. Sometimes a concept comes along that particularly throws you a curve ball, this was pretty unexpected and brilliant IMO. Concrete is wonderful. Apparently, Chadwick is working on a new story.

I would love to see more Concrete, glad to hear he is working on that! More Larry Marder Beanworld too please if he's up for it.

I guess the moral of the tale is, buy stuff as soon as possible. Oh, I am the absolute worst at knee-jerk buying stuff before it goes out of print. Did that with two epic collections, an Omni, and the Flash "Death Of Iris West" collection. Never again (or so I tell myself)

I don't see what's so special about Art Adams.
There I said it.

Art Adams to me is like if bad 90's art was good.

For me, New Mutants Special Edition was a real high point for Adams (Austin’s inks didn't hurt either). EDIT to my original: I had some comments after that, but after reflecting more, I like plenty of his later stuff.

Seriously, though, Adams can draw the crap out of anything, from Gumby to Godzilla.

Yeah, Art was way more versatile than the bulk of the Image crowd and very dynamic in his work, I loved what he did on the X-Men and New Mutants annuals, set is Asgard. Longshot never did much for me, though. His Gumby was fantastic and I really enjoyed his Monkeyman & O'Brian series, what there was of it, at Dark Horse. His Jonni Future work, for the ABC line, was fun.
I don't think he was ever going to be his generations superstar artist, because he wasn't prolific enough; but, I think he brought a lot of life to anything he did, including covers that were way better than the interior stories. I think a better comparison, for him, is Michael Golden. Solid artist, not a large body of work, as a story artist; but, a lot of covers and very influential in his style and design details.

I don't see what's so special about Art Adams. There I said it. Get the torches and pitchforks ready, because except for absolutely ONE comic I've never liked his work. The one time I ... well, I won't say "liked" but rather "didn't dislike" his art was when he inked - of all people - Jim Mooney on an issue of Superboy: The Comic Book in 1990. It's the issue where a postmodern art student turns Bizarro into a performance artist in an attempt to create a new deconstructionist movement. Yes, really. The regular inker was Ty Templeton, but for some reason he did not ink this issue. In this one case, I think Adams was better suited to the story than Templeton, as Adams brought a slightly darker, harder edge to the story, which better suited the deconstructionist feel of the story (the story was actually kind of deconstructing deconstructionism, but whatever), and the actual character of Bizarro as inked by Adams looked pretty decent. I've never cared for how Adams does expressions, but he totally nailed it over Mooney's pencils on a few faces in the book. But no, generally I really don't like his work. Speaking of controversial artwork -
