Wolverine and Spiderman shouldn't be regular members of the Avengers. There, I said it.
Also, Wolverine doesn't need to be in every comic just because he's so popular!

I’m a wrestling fan. The WWF (now WWE) went from four PPVs a year at its peak to monthly PPVs in 1995. Its flagship show, Raw, is 3 hours long (it started off at 1 hour, then went to 2, then 3). Another show - Saturday Night’s Main Event is returning. PPVs are now 4+ hours. There are countless championships. Who has the time to keep up with it all? Who would WANT to? Now, I know that nobody is forced to buy every comic (who could?). But sometimes it’s hard to avoid. I was buying the monthly Spider-Man reprint comic here in the UK, and at one point, they reprinted the Spidey/Deadpool comic, in addition to Deadpool having his own reprint comic. You can get fed up with things. Even the best are in danger of being overexposed. Superman is my favourite superhero, but I wouldn’t want him showing up in other books I follow. It just seems that as far as wrestling and *some* comic publishers are concerned, less is never more.

I couldn't imagine watching a modern wrestle mania, though... that's half a bloody weekend! RAW actually made the news this week for dropping back to 2 hours as fans were put off by the length. Why the powers that be in most industries don't agree less is ever more, I'm not sure. Leading me to my next statement....

Marvel and DC would each have a better output if they published 18 rather than 80 titles each per month! There, I said it.

I know it’s as old as the hills because the likes of Superman and Batman always had multiple titles, but it just felt like too much during the Triangle Era - when they added Superman: The Man of Tomorrow, I just wondered why anyone would want 52 weeks of Superman a year (a member here, whose posts always make me smile, would probably question why we need *any* Superman comics a year). I know it’s about what sells. If Marvel could sell 4 or 5 Doctor Strange books a month, I know they would. If the market can support a lot of Deadpool or Spidey titles, I get it. But quality over quantity is preferable for me personally; of course, I know they’re not producing comics solely for me.

To be fair, U2 were a big deal at the time. So was Bono's ego, apparently. Arthur Matthews, co-creator of the UK sitcom Father Ted, used to be part of a mock group, called the Joshua Trio, who used to take the mickey out of Bono and U2, as, as Graham Linehan put it, Bono became more and more "messianic." He said one of their shows, the one impersonating Bono came up to the stage, riding a donkey. I've also heard Ardal O'Hanlon, in an interview, take issue with some of Bono's talk of giving out money overseas, while he is well known for tax avoidance in Ireland. Love the music (well, up to Achtung, Baby) but Bono does seem to believe his own press.

I enjoy Triangle-era Superman, but don't necessarily have any preference over which title I liked best (sometimes I don't even remember which story occurred in which). I'm sure I liked certain stories that appeared in Super-man: Man of Tomorrow, but those could have easily been done in any of the regular books. I'm surprised they didn't just take the opportunity to fill those fifth-weeks with Annuals, since that would have satisfied the 52 book a year quota. Super-man: Man of Tomorrow became redundant within a year or two anyways once DC started using the fifth-week to promote special events Nowadays it just seems like overkill, when not only does every character have multiple titles, but so do their supporting characters.

If he sells the book, then mission accomplished, that's the real primary objective, and not the 'over-exposure'.
The new Deadpool movie wouldn't have been as big of a hit without him.

Is it sustainable? But then, have comics ever cared about sustainability vs what sells lots for the next two months?

Not sure if you're serious or joking. If the former then no, I mean Magik. Damn! I was hoping Mrs Arbogast had finally gotten a spin-off series! I might be the only one that is both excited for the Magik series and would read the heck out of a Mrs. Arbogast book.
