It's not my thing either, but clearly a lot of people love it. The original art (42 pages, six covers) sold out the very minute it went on sale. The #1 cover sold for $70,000. The original art for the fugly cover sold for $70,000?? Wow!!

Horrific disfigurement or not, this guy could star in a toothpaste ad for his perfect looking teeth.
For most of Captain America's run, Skull's red face was a merely a disguise to enrapture his enemies in fear, wasn't until Gruenwald's run that they made the "death mask" real. IDK, I kind of like both versions honestly. But the MCU version of Johann seems to be far better well know where it's a side effect of too much exposure to the Tesseract/Cosmic Cube

Egads! That is horrific. Lousy art and design. Liefeld standard.

I just spent like 15 minutes visually devouring three pages of Alex Toth movie storyboards. Just gorgeous work. Dude was an absolute genius.
There. I said it.

I’m going to presume TwoMorrows have done an issue or book about Toth. I should check it out.

I’m going to presume TwoMorrows have done an issue or book about Toth. I should check it out. IDW did a three-volume masterpiece, covering pretty much all stages of his career, with an incredible volume dedicated to his model sheets and production art for animation. Toth's Legion of Doom would have been so much cooler than the one we got....which was pretty darn good! His Zorro is an amazing piece of swashbuckling action. My first exposure was the Three Musketeers cartoons, from the Banana Splits Show....

All three are highly recommended.

All 3 volumes were recently rereleased in affordable softcover volumes. I'd also recommend Paul Fricke's Alex Toth in Depth podcast (also available on youtube)

I'm definitely curious about the Black Canary series which rolls out next month I think....although I might wait for the whole set and then buy it in one fell swoop. I might look into the classic material as well...if there's a Hardcover compilation of her best stories.
