So apparently, the public debate is about to take a major shift to the right : Paris was just the theatre of 2 suicide bombers, 2 random shoot outs and a hostage situation in a concert hall still going on with shooters loose on the streets... Over 40 dead and counting, in the very center of the city, while France was playing a friendly game against Germany in football.

Fucking cowards is right. Pig-fucking cowards.
After all these years marked by terrorism, I still can't get my head around the idea of people who are ready to murder innocents to make a point. It's just insane; it's just evil.

It's crusade times, you'd think people had learned... Love to you all. I'll go cool down outside.

Stay Strong AGS! My heritage is French Canadian, I am a Bastille Day baby and my family is of French descent, and I still have distant family in Paris, so I was shoked and appalled when I saw this when I got home from work an hour ago. My god, the world we live in. Vive la France! In this we are one world together and together we must stand. -M

Arthur, I just don't know what to say to you but my hearts goes out to you, your family, and your fellow citizens in this heartless sense of violence that centers on the capital of France. I visited Paris twice in my lifetime and it's full of culture, arts, history, and one of the most iconic cities in Europe being treated in this fashion that beyond my scope of imagination of the horrors that you and your loved ones are experiencing.
Stay safe and I'm thinking of you as always.

I was very moved to see the people evacuating the Stade de France spontaneously singing the Marseillaise.

Watching the news last night reminded me way too much of 9/11 for comfort. I can only hope it leads to a good resolution of the issues in Syria in particular and the Middle East in general.
Glad you're OK, Arthur!

A shocking and horrible attack on a beautiful, vibrant city and its good people. I echo the sentiments of others here and am saddened and disgusted by these craven acts. All our thoughts are with France today.

I got home fr work last night and my wife told me about this. I am glad that you are safe Arthur. My wife having watched/read as it went on said it reminded her of 9/11 here in the US. I hope to hear good news updates in this thread as I'm not sure I want to see anything firsthand via news media.

My son spent two months in Europe after he graduated high school. Mostly in Belgium, but also a week in Paris. He was there for Bastille Day 2013 and he fell in love with the city. He called last night and was very upset. The father and the older brother of the girl he loves live in Paris. They're fine. But it's shaken her and him.
My thoughts are with all of you, Arthur.
