I haven't seen Batman v. Superman yet (and probably won't see it in the theater), but I find what I've heard about adapting elements of the Dark Knight Returns to be odd. I thought dark comedy was supposed to be the tone of much of DKR, especially the Batman vs. Superman fight. Isn't that why DKR had the spectacle of two over-the-hill heroes fighting, and a hefty Batman depicted as able to hold his own through gimmickry in a fight against Sueprman. It's supposed to have an absurdist streak, and pit them against each other for some thematic reasons. Therefore, it seems weird to co-opt that scenario (including a graying Batman) for an action flick that's supposed to take place before the formation of the Justice League. TDKR has a funny streak to it, one that I'm not entirely fond of, but you don't see it in the final struggle. That was as serious as Miller got in the whole LS.

Eisenberg is every bit the massive miscast as Lex that I thought he would be. I wasn't expecting anything in particular but yes, I didn't like the character he constructed.

The way people are talking about this film is starting to feel disturbingly similar to the way folks are discussing presidential candidates

The way people are talking about this film is starting to feel disturbingly similar to the way folks are discussing presidential candidates It feels like Superman as interpreted by Donald Trump.

I actually kinda liked it. It's a badly flawed movie, for sure. It's way too long, Batman's a jerk, Superman's boring, Luthor's the bad guy because he's Luthor. The music really bugged me; too loud and trying too hard to be epic. Any sort-of significant scene has this blaring, this is important music yelling PAY ATTENTION THIS IS BIG WOW DID YOU SEE THAT. And the cameos of Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman last maybe 10 seconds each, so they're just to tease future movies.
But I liked Holly Hunter, and the exploration of Superman's responsibility/answerability was good, if unresolved. I actually liked Lois Lane for once. It makes sense that this Batman and this Superman don't trust each other, and their conflict worked, even without Luthor. Batman sort-of gets a redemption arc, tho blink and you might miss it. (I liked the scene w/him and Ma Kent.) And the scene w/Bats & Luthor at the end hints at something going on behind the scenes, which might help explain Lex's motivation (tho again, that's left to a future movie). And once we finally get to the big fight scenes, they were fun. The bit with the contrasting funerals at the end was powerful; hell, I teared up.
And Gal Gadot was terrific. She's given very little to do, but she has a presence, her entrance in costume is great, and she stands toe to toe w/B&S and seems to belong with them. I actually want to see her solo Xena film now. (What? She was supposed to be playing Wonder Woman? Oh crap.)

I loved it.
I really feel like they made the comic book movie I've always wanted to see.

I don't expect this film to be a critical darling still I'm hesitant over it. Being a Superman fan, I've only watched Man of Steel once and was left dismayed. (As in after watching Reeves in the first Superman film, you're left with a sense of strong hope afterwards. I did not have that feeling after watching Cavill).

I watched the film and Bob's got it down 100%. This film is pretty much a glorious disaster to behold.

Just got back from seeing it. I actually liked it. It definitely could have been shorter and I think it was edited poorly, but I liked the plot and the issues it raised, as well as the performances. I dislike that Batman kills, but his character is written well. Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman is a perfect fit. And I was surprised by the ending. (I did see it coming a couple of minutes before it happened, but even then I was surprised they were willing to go there.) The part I found the worst was young Bruce being lifted by the bats. I was laughing at the stupidity of that moment. One thing I really liked was how the fact that Bruce and Clark's mothers share the same name was a plot point.[/spoil]

The thing you disliked the most, was explained to be a dream. At least in the spanish translation.
