... And now live somewhere in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. In that case you should get in touch with pakehafulla, I'm sure it can't be too far to his place! maybe, if Thor Heyerdahl were still around to be their guide. -M

Born and raised here in New Zealand *cough* years ago...Lived most of that time in the city*cough* of Wanganui, and for the last 8 years have lived on the outskirts of a small town about 30 minutes from there. I commute the half hour to work in Wanganui, to the astonishment of those I work with, most of whom have a 10 minute drive home. Still yet to travel overseas, but would love to take my lady to Rarotonga, where her mother is from, to get married one day. I think I've been through Wanganui, a few years ago. I've got relatives in Levin and we were coming down from Ohakune, so probably passed through I feel so stalked...
Hope you liked the place, I'm making a huge assumption here that you were on vacation in NZ.

We certainly were - had a fabulous time there, once we realised that our pre-planned itinerary only left enough time to do this: arrive at camp site, cook, set up for night, drive to next camp site...repeat until insane. Once we slowed down and reduced the number of places we intended to hit, it was great. NZ is an incredible place* - everywhere you go it's "wow a mountain! wow a beautiful river! wow what a view of the sea! wow a maintain and a river and the sea! ooh look dolphins! ooh look whales! ooh look dolphins and whales! etc etc". We were there for about 4½ weeks from early December 2008 into early January 2009 (* though you can't get spicy food for love or money. The NZ idea of a hot curry... )

Its one of the things my lady and I really envy European cultures for, the vast variety of tasty foods... and history...and art... and taste...
Glad you enjoyed your visit, come say hi next time

NZ looks like one of the most beautiful places in the world, but I'm not really a nature person so I'd probably be over it real quick
