Ta-dah! A quickie. Not finished anything much recently that I can share due to the fact that I actually seem to be working on strips that might get published in real comic books that might actually pay me some money - one day. Who'd a thunk it?

Been a bit short of time to do any drawing I can share but here's a quickie that I pulled from my notebooks this evening. I suspect this is one of those that makes me laugh but leaves other people baffled.

So, tonight, I'm trying to work out what a character for my next strip looks like. I've got the strip just about written and there's about 12 pages of it. The heroine is in just about every single panel so I'd better know what she looks like. The real trouble is though that I don't know what she called. I've got her origin worked out She's your typical superhero by lab accident (but with twist). I know what she's called before she gets superpowered (Clarissa) but I have no idea what she's called when she emerges from the smoking ruins of her dad's lab. The strip is set in the present day and Clarissa is transformed into an Aretha Franklin-powered Soul Super Sister from the 1970s. (I've been watching Pam Grier movies for research.) Tonight I sat down and drew her, hoping by alchemy to discover her name. Just as I was finishing up it came to me - Dynamite Jones! Ladies and gentlemen, meet Ms Dynamite Jones!

Can't wait to start drawing it! But I seem to have lumbered myself with drawing a couple of four page freebies to other peoples scripts for an anthology. ('Lumbered' is the wrong word as I have until the end of Jan to do them but I am in that - ' What did I just agree to?' phase that comes between the highs of ' Initial Enthusiasm', and ' Getting on with it and loving the process'.) Meanwhile as a former Corman slave and in the best traditions of low budget movie making - I came up with the sales poster before I've finalised the script:
